Stop the Lynnhurst Plan! No New Traffic at 51st & James Ave.

Please leave the Parkway and parking areas around Lynnhurst, Burroughs, and W. Minnehaha Pkwy. as is - and reconsider your plans for change.

Please stop the Lynnhurst plan. While I live about a mile away I am frequently in that area — by car, on foot, or on my bike. The proposed changes are not necessary and will have a negative impact on neighbors resining closest to the changes. Our parkway is wonderful and might need shoring up here and there but does not need major changes. Please appreciate what we have.

Stop this plan to close the parkway and listen to those of us who live here. This beautiful historic parkway should not be shut down. Explore other options. I walk it everyday as I live in the 50th/Bryant area.

Stop the Lynnhurst Plan--it provides absolutely zero benefit to the people who pay the taxes to live here! It will endanger the lives of the old and young alike with the added traffic.

The city really needs to listen to its residents!

This plan appears hastily put together and will have many negative effects, far outweighing anything positive.

I am most concerned with safety at the 51st and James intersection. In my opinion a 4-way stop and warning lights are needed if the traffic flow will increase. Where is the rigorous study of appropriate safety in the area of an elementary school. We don’t even have reduced speeds posted anywhere near the school. The concept of rerouting the traffic from the Parkway is not fully developed without adding appropriate safety features near the school. This plan should not be approved as is. More careful study, review and input is needed.

Please suspend the plan to divert Parkway traffic onto W 51st St and James Ave S !!

I am appalled at the lack of accountability the board has demonstrated toward the citizens near and on the parkway as you continue to push for this lame-brained plan on the Parkway that very few want. There has not been any cogent rationale for this plan to go forward. The hubris that has been shown by the commissioners led by Brad has been stunning. This board has a history of going through the motions of asking for public engagement but then ignoring the oppositions point of view and ramming things through

Has anyone looked at the underside of Nicollet Ave. bridge? Doesn’t look appealing for a park.

Stop the Lynnhurst Plan!

While I am very concerned about re-routing traffic to a nearby school, I’m equally concerned about the lack of regard for some of the things that make MINNEAPOLIS special. One of them is our Minnehaha Parkway. I believe it is irresponsible planning to break up this beautiful historical parkway that surrounds our city. I urge you to reconsider and to explore other options.

Bad idea. Trying to fix something that is not broken. Cannot believe you are planning on removing the wading pool. Do you have any idea how many families use the pool.

We live on West Minnehaha Parkway north of 550th Street and strongly oppose this proposed plan.

I do not support rerouting traffic and creating more traffic on James avenue. This will also likely affect all homes on James between 50th and 54th st. I don't want extra traffic on James as kids walk to school.

We live on the corner of 51st and James and would be adversely impacted by this ludicrous proposal. The street is far too busy now, especially when school is opening and closing for the day. To think that it could handle 1,900 more cars a day reflects a total lack of thought and planning. Furthermore, the CAC group voting on this has been arrogant, aloof and immune to any input by the citizenry affected. I have observed in the past that, given even the slightest whiff of power, ordinary people can lose all perspective and connection with groups they supposedly represent, and that is clearly happening here. I guess the bright side is that when our property values plummet due to us now being located immediately next to the area's newest freeway, we will see an enormous break in our property taxes - ha!

Stop trying to fix something just to look like you are busy .

5-6 months of the year you can't ride a bike, yet bikes are being preferred over cars... don't ban cars from the beautiful parkway and don't congest Mt. Olivet. I'm a member, and a life-long resident of Minneapolis, but looking elsewhere in part due to 2040.
