The Lisburn Council has officially rescinded their directive to remove the headstone. My solicitor confirmed the plot will remain undisturbed permanently. We must monitor the area to ensure this mandate is respected by all grounds staff moving forward.

The Lisburn Council wants to remove my sons headstone after nearly 6 years there. I was talking to my solicitor he advised me to bring it to the newspaper and make an online petition as there is nothing he can do. They want to remove the headstone the floor and the surround and put grass on it. Us travellers believe on having big headstones for our dead. This will break me and my childrens heart. We are approaching the one hundred signature threshold which is the target I need to include with my formal request to the Lisburn Council officials. I am currently drafting the letter to the planning department and this volume of support will be used as a primary exhibit. This is so cruel and unnecessary. That grave is clearly very loved and looked after and that young boy should be left to rest in peace not have his grave pulled apart. Absolutely disgusting to expect anyone to do this to a family members grave.

This is shocking. Leave this poor family alone. It has been there 6 years . Why only now has this become an issue. Let this young man Rest In Peace and don’t make his family have to disturb his final resting place. Shame on the council

Words fail me at the lack of Compassion and the Authoritarian Policies of Lisburn Council. Their plot. Their child. Their right to mark it as they see fit. Power gone bad and mad as it always seems to. Sorry you're having to go through this.

It seems an incredibly cruel and insensitive act, why after six years? This family have suffered so much already, loosing their son and brother, it's a graveyard, it's hardly bothering anyone, surely this mothers right to remember her child is more important ?
