Stop The Lawsuit Against Florida's Tax Credit Scholarships (Step Up For Students)

This scholarship has made it possible for my child to attend private school. We give so much in property tax to the County, what are they complaining about??? They don't need more money!!!

My fifteen year old granddaughter entered her freshman year last year at a public high school and wanted out. She did not feel safe there. After a year of online school, we decided that she needed interaction with other children. We chose to send her to a private school and thanks to Step Up for Students we were able to get her there this year. She is very happy now with where she is. The thought of having to remove her from this safe and nurturing school is devastating.

My kids thrive in the private school this scholarship pays for. They are one and a half to two years ahead of public school students. The reason is, these teachers are allowed to actually teach and not just teach what is on the FCAT; which helps determine these public schools teacher's sale rise and school funding. My children far exceed what their public school counterparts are learning. The teacher's don't have to spend half of their days getting unruly behavior under control because the classroom is not a glorified extention of daycare. My children excel in math, science, reading and actually write in cursive, as educated students do. The are getting a real world education, not a no kid left behind (who is passed even though he is failing, all for statistics and money. This scholarship program has to be saved so that children who excel can excel and not be confined to a mediocre, at best, education, just because their families are not financially able to get them the proper education all children deserve.

As a mom of a child with autism, I wish the public school system could meet his needs. Unfortunately, they can't. We tried and were asked to leave and not come back. I know I didn't think that our districted publics school could do that but they did. I homeschool my son with Autism to provide him with everything he needs. This includes having private ST, OT, and ABA therapy. All of these therapies are expensive;however, they are a crucial piece to my son's education. We are so thankful for the step up for students special needs scholarship, it helps our family meet his needs. To the organizations who have the nerve to file a lawsuit, you should be ashamed of your selves!!! How do you take away from the children who need the most? Our family along with many others have made so many financial sacrifices to give our children with special needs hope for tomorrow.

I have three children and personally paid for public schooling for my eldest who has now graduated from FSU. As a homeowner within Orange County I pay my property taxes, which includes county schools. I also paid for private schooling for my next two children up until middle school. My son was able to make a smooth transition to public school, but my youngest daughter did not. I had to put her back in private school, but I no longer had the financial means to make this happen. Step Up For Students has been a blessing for my youngest daughter. I paid and supported the public school system for years while I was also paying for private schooling for my children. I tried public school for my daughter for two years and it didn't work out. She loves being back at her Christian School and is excelling socially and academically in all honors classes. Please STOP this lawsuit. Thank You!!!

I am in total awe that this can be affecting our community and our children. It is bad enough that we have to stand for all the bad things that the government puts us through and the corruption in society. That now our children are being affected by thisproposal. WHAT ARE YOUPEOPLE THINKING!!!!!!! our schools are our only hope

There are not enough resources for parents that have special needs children as it is. Please don't take this away from us, too.

This program is great all around, it saves tax payers about 10,000 per student and helps local businesses.

My children and I are so grateful for this scholarship. The school we are zoned for is not the best, and we are breaking this fallen worlds thinking cycle in our children by having them in a Christian school. If for some reason Step Up was no more we would all be devasted, the thought terrifies me!

I think that where a child attends school, is up to the parents, as they know what is a good fit for their child better than the government.

Without this scholarship my son wouldn't be able to go to a good school where the teachers care and the he is actually learning.

I believe in the step up for students without it I wouldn't have been able to afford tuition for my son for a private school which has allowed him to excel and he is now a senior in the class of 2015. In my opinion this would have never happened if he was to stay in a public school.
