This is political. The students are the only ones that will suffer along with their families. Few opportunities for families trapped in a bad school zone with poor economic resources.

This scholarship changes lives!! It is an overall investment in quality education for those of us who otherwise would not be able to afford it, and it provides much more than can be seen with the naked eye. Our world deserves that we leave educated individuals in our place, it starts here and now!

The step up scholarship programs allow parents and students more options. Which can make a big difference in student learning, because of environment and more one to one attention.
Terminating this type of program would
Be against peoples right to choose, where they consider they children would do better academically.

I currently serve as the Head of School for a large private Christian school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The "Step Up for Students" program has rescued several students in our school from being forced into failing schools in their districts. It would be heartbreaking to see them forced into a situation in which they no longer had the generous assistance of Step Up. They would be left with no options, and their kids would be forced to enter into failing schools. This program is worth keeping and expanding.

This scholarships is beneficial to many students. It has provided them and their parents with school choice. Students, who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to a private education to avoid a failing school are now entitled to such. Parents should be allowed to choose a different schools for their children when they school they are zoned for does not meet their needs.

So many of our students live below the poverty line and would not have been able to afford the quality education that our school offers.
Also, many of them come from homes where English is not spoken and benefit greatly from the one-on-one attention we give them to strengthen their language skills.
The SUFS scholarship has truly made a difference in their lives.

Please do not take this scholarship away from families who want their children in private schools. I am a single mother of 4 and am trying to make it on my own. Without this scholarship I would be unable to give my children the kind of education that I believe they need to have. Angela Miller

If it were not for Step up for students, our son Michael Cooney, would not be able to attend such a school as Admiral Farragut Academy. Michael is an example of taking a child with a 4.6 GPA and athlete and putting him in a school that will open many doors to a wonderful future.
