Stop the Jackson Park/Inglewood Conservation Overlay

I strongly oppose the overlay.

I strongly oppose this proposal.

The subjective nature of the guidelines combined with an enforcement of a non-elected board of 9 politically appointed people is of SIGNIFICANT concern. Regardless, of how much the rep from the Historic Commission misrepresents the facts at the community meetings, this overlay clearly infringes on the rights of property owners.

The Planning Dept. provided a vague description of what this restricts versus allows. I cannot take the risk of this passing if it prevents me from doing something to my home in the future that would be good for my property.

Kindly vote against this proposal. Whatever we do with our properties is our choice and is not the business of others. Less they choose to pay our property taxes.

We should be concentrating on ridding Inglewood of check cashing and pawn shops, car lots and recruiting small shoppes like in East Nashville and restaurants and pubs like in Riverside Village. I am opposed to the current proposed overlay as it is vague and presented with not enough time or information to convince me it should move forward

I haven't had time to become familiar with this proposed overlay. Does this overlay place any restrictions on all of these hideous, new, poorly-imitated contemporary, monstrosities, which are being crammed 2 to 6 on a lot that previously had one single house? To me, that is more important than worrying about additions on existing structures.

Please don't infringe upon my property rights. Sunnymeade hasn't seen a single civic improvement project in at least a decade. That's not how Nashville treats its other "historic" neighborhoods. Let's be honest with ourselves. Legislating a matter of taste is the wrong thing to focus on. We have actual real needs for improvement. Stop putting the burden on me, start using my tax dollars for badly needed infrastructure.

This overlay fundamentally misunderstands the criteria for what constitutes a suitable and tasteful addition to an existing home and prevents the use of eco-friendly, historic materials (such as metal roofs). Moreover, the overlay does not specifically prohibit the types of new developments that probably drove the creation of the overlay in the first place. More research needs to be done to draft an overlay that works for residents. -- a concerned Inglewood resident.

Plans too vague and left to board to approved. New build issue needs to be addressed but not this way.
