Stop the Jackson Park/Inglewood Conservation Overlay

Protect your property rights. Ask for clear definitive language in any proposed proposals. Tackeling the (skinny development) issue should and can be addressed without infringing on the overall rights of property owners. THINK ABOUT IT! ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP YOUR PROPERTY RIGHTS BASED ON SUCH A POORLY WRITTEN PROPOSAL. DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN AN ASSOCIATION STYLE NEIGHBORHOOD. OR DO YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR FREEDOM AS A PROPERTY OWNER. Mind you. If all these restrictions are adopted the resale off your property will be diminished. Potential buyers will be put off by such measures and will seek other options in neighborhoods that allow more flexibility in regards to what they can do with their new purchase. THINK ABOUT IT!!

We oppose the historic overlay that includes our home on Winding Way. Stands should be set for new builds not for our homes and your plans are too vague and left to the board to not approve it. We never where notified until November 2015.

I would prefer that my choices not be taken away from me when it comes to how I take care of my home.

I oppose the overlay and the fact that it is being railroaded against the property owners in this community

In this, as many similar real estate development cases, economic market forces will keep those houses of historical value and thus these burdensome conservation rules (which restrict growth and cost government planning dept. time and $) are not required. If a house is nice and worth preserving then it's market value will be high and re-development will not be financially attractive, on the other hand if a house is run down then its' market value will dip to a level where a developer will buy the house and rebuild a new, better house. Based on the comments I've heard to date, most people in favor of the overlay main complaint is that he/she doesn't like new architecture styles. Sorry, time moves on and tastes change - if not we'd all be living in log cabins with dirt floors.

1803 McGavock in one of the Modern homes everyone hates so much. I'm not interested in living in a homogenized neighborhood. I am interested in vibrant and diverse communities that care more about people than about restricting the style of architecture.

I am very suspicious of elected officials in general. I have listened to the party line proposals to address the issues of unsightly structures being built in our neighborhoods. However, homeowners care about their neighborhoods more than any bureaucrats in office, yet this plan seems to be taking control of them instead of the builders who are actually erecting these eyesores that stick out like sore thumbs. It sounds like another attempt to to control what we do with our own property. Our freedoms are being chipped away at every level. To the members of the MNPC and the Metro Council, please leave us alone.

To much government control

I don't want anyone telling us what we can or cannot do on our own property. This will not prevent multiple homes on a single lot.
