Horrid idea! That hill is bad enough in winter without lights. here's an idea STOP BUILDING NEW HOUSING IN MT> ALBERT!

Has anyone from the planning dept physically reviewed the site? Its hard enough getting up that hill in the winter. Forcing drivers to stop, then gain traction to get going could prove disastrous. Even more so if vehicles start sliding backward or have loss of control.

Not a good idea the winter will be a big mess! Hope know one gets hurt! Consider the fact that there is a school at the bottom of the hill.... cars going backwards towards a school.... or you will get people running the red so that they don't risk sliding down the hill. And think of the trucks trying to stop and then get going! They already struggle with the hill!
Just not a good idea at all!

Trucks and cars will be stopped trying to get over the crest of the hill going eastbound in the winter and they will slip and create a lot of havoc and further traffic incidents. That hill can be very slippery and dangerous. Just ask the residents living on Mt. Albert Side Road about all the people they have helped in the past that were unable to climb that hill when it snows. Salt and brine are not always the answer.

This is not at all an appropriate place for traffic lights. I have to wonder if anyone who is working on having this implemented has ever visited the site in person? This is a very steep hill with little / no flat area at the top of thr hill. It is not the place to have traffic lights. Given the number of warnings from local residents, it would be negligent to proceed with this.

I think it's unsafe for the winter months with the hills , trucks cars&buses have problems now let alone with being stopped for lights, why not a yellow and red flashing light?

Definately not a good idea to put a light on the top of a hill !! As a resident that lived on that hill, I watched many cars sliding down the hill backwards in the winter just due to traction and having to slow down. Never mind having to stop completely !!

I drive through this intersection every day of the work week, on my way to school. I have seen cars and trucks struggle to get up that hill on slippery days in the winter and cannot imagine what will happen when they are forced to stop at the top and try to restart again. I do agree that something needs to be done as it is a dangerous intersection but installing lights here is not the best option.

This was obviously a decision made either by only viewing pictures of the site (in the summer), and are only listening to the complaints of people who are never happy with anything in this community and want speed bumps, red lights and stop signs located everywhere. Any informed person who visted the area in the winter during a storm would never consider putting an intersection light there. Horribly dangerous. Please consider either a flashing yellow/red as well as alteration to the topography to make it flatter for better visability. Smart, sensible solutions.

While I agree that something needs to be done, and other than blasting the size of the hill so you can see what's coming, putting lights or a 4 way stop there is such a bad idea. Surely someone should sit there for a few days to see the dynamics of that turn before putting forth such a dangerous idea????

Reconfiguring the intersection would be a better option. A roundabout & no heavy vehicle traffic would make this a safer more environmentally viable option. Stopping & starting has a larger environmental impact due to emissions.

We live right across the cemetery and a light would make the noise really bad from all the trucks gearing up and down - not to mention their inability to make it up both hills, on Centre and on MA road in winter.

Could you make it a 3-way stop, with only a sign at that intersection for the traffic going eastbound?

Has Mt. Albert grown that much in 35 years? York Region has too many stop lights to begin with just look at Newmarket.
