Stop the install of traffic lights at Mount Albert & Centre

Have lived here fro more then a decade and never seen an accident here. We moved here to get away from city stuff like traffic lights, so NO NO NO NO NO do not mess up our village for no good reason

Have lived here 20+ years and not aware of any accidents that would warrant this. If it goes through guaranteed it will cause a few especially in the winter. Better enforcement of the speed limit and banning transport trucks going through town past a public school makes more sense in my opinion.

As a person who lives really close to the intersection, I can attest that it will be a disaster!! There is nothing wrong with visibility at the intersection if the cars don't speed. I wonder if the consultant drives, and if he/she even came out in person to look at the intersection. Enforcing the speed limit and possibly installing speed bumps on Mount Albert Road would be the best solution. Every winter morning, I watch cars taking on our hill. Making them to stop half-way up would be twice as dangerous!! I don't want them sliding back into the sidewalk or into my driveway!! Also, one child quickly crossing Centre street (with the crossing guard!!) makes at least 3-4 cars usually waiting. So, imagine what a traffic light will do! The trigger-signal won't help! It'll create real traffic jams in our small town for no reason!! With increased traffic due to new subdivisions, it would be even worse... It's unbelievable how blind is our faith in the word "consultant". It's like some stamp of the highest authority that makes it very convenient to hide behind. I've worked with many. Not everything they say should be taken for gospel. I've seen my share of wrong reports, but really fancy-looking ones at that! Interesting how democracy doesn't work for us... There's been only 1 accident over almost 15 years that I lived in town. Why making it worse? Is it someone's "quick win" item before the elections? Well, you won't have my vote, that's for sure!! Please rethink!!

The mayor seems to be hanging her hat on the "skilled advice of the consultant" and as a professional engineer I am curious to find out what moron thought this is a good idea! dangerous.....

I have been here since 1973 and as far as I know there has never been an accident at this intersection .My son lives on the farm at Davis Dr. and Durham 30. In the spring he drives a tractor and wagon north on the Centre Road several times to Cargill, which is just west of the public school to purchase fertilizer . I can imagine how difficult it'll be if he has to stop part way up the hill on his return trip. Will he have to go north along Hwy.48 to Mt. Albert now to avoid the possibility of this occurring? That certainly won't be safer for him and I would be extremely concerned!!! Would not " Hidden Intersection " signs be appropriate for the east, west road? I think so. If this was a concern in 2015, why was no one informed about it, so discussions could have taken place then? Perhaps people have to be more aware of their surroundings and pay attention! I strongly disagree with the installation of these traffic lights!!

I seriously don't believe this is the answer. We need to search for other more safe alternatives.

Terrible idea ! Safety right out the door . Someone is making a big mistake.

We live just up the hill on centre st and lights there make absolutely no sense! I have big doubts that the research and work has been done to improve this intersection. NO LIGHTS @Mount Albert road & centre!!

all that is needed is a stop sign for the people coming west on Mt. Albert Rd.

Extremely dangerous idea. Drivers coming off Centre Street don't stop at the stop sign. Do you think the will stop for a light?

This is a very bad and dangerous idea. What is the justification for putting lights there? I've lived in MA for 8 years and knock on wood, have never seen or heard of an accident there.

This is not a good idea at all. Why are you not thinking about safety for our community and our kids.

Stupid idea

I lived on Mount Albert Road for 8 years, in a house that was back then two houses west of Center. I remember sitting in my front living room watching cars and trucks struggle to get up that hill in bad weather. I have witnessed cars sliding backwards. Putting a light at this intersection would only create chaos, particularily in high traffic times during poor weather conditions. It is tough enough to navigate that hill without being forced to stop.

Getting up Mt. Albert Road heading east in the winter can be a nightmare sometimes as it is, if you add the potential to have to stop at the top of it, you are creating a very dangerous situation. This is obviously a decision which has been made with no thought at all for the safety of the people who actually use the road. There are other options for this intersection - they should use one of them!

Perhaps the current project could be put on hold and you could waste another $100 grand and have consultants spend a few weeks observing activity at the intersection in the middle of winter which should have happened in the first place. Or, you could just install a 3 way stop as recommended by the people who live, work and drive this area every day. Community involvement should take place at the start of the change process not at the end.
