Robert Ghiz finally folded and abandoned the HST plan because he could not ignore our movement any longer. This victory belongs to every person who refused to let the government pick our pockets. Stay sharp because we need to make sure they do not try to sneak these tax hikes …
To the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island:
Whereas, Robert Ghiz's new combined sales tax will increase the cost of goods and services that families and businesses buy every day, such as: adult clothing ,coffee, newspapers and magazines;
gas at the pumps; and electricity;
postage stamps;
haircuts;
dry cleaning;
home renovations;
veterinary care; and
arena ice and soccer field rentals.
We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island as follows:
That the Robert Ghiz government wake up to Prince Edward Island's current economic reality and stop raising taxes, once and for all, on Prince Edward Island's hard-working families and businesses.
Robert Ghiz thinks he can bury this new tax under our noses while our families struggle to pay for the basics. I have been relentless in pushing the Legislative Assembly for answers but they choose to hide behind their desks instead of facing the people they are hurting.

Ghiz needs to listen. PEI is a small place and everything costs double what it does on the mainland already.

this is going to kill local businesses. nobody is going to want to shop on the island if you add more tax on everything.
