This is another blow to democracy in Canada and show that this government is a Fascist one. It is also a swipe at the integrity of Journalism.

This is very unprofessional and unethical… you are promoting a mindset of stealing - than the government says it is okay… because they do it! This is not what I want my kids looking up to and thinking it is okay!

I am disgusted and disheartened by the bullying, autocratic Harper Government continually changing laws and putting themselves above public servant values and ethics standards (http://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=25049) for their direct or indirect benefit. What about “Respect for Democracy”? “Public servants [is the Harper Government NOT part of the public service?!?] shall uphold the Canadian parliamentary democracy and its institutions by: 1.1 Respecting the rule of law and carrying out their duties in accordance with legislation, policies and directives in a non-partisan and impartial manner.” I guess they feel if they change the laws then it’s okay. Then what about “Integrity”?? “Public servants shall serve the public interest by: […] 3.2 Never using their official roles to inappropriately obtain an advantage for themselves or to advantage or disadvantage others.” This example of proposing changes to the copyright law is a clear case of them seeking an advantage for themselves while disadvantaging others at the same time. These omnibus bills are a scourge for Canada and Canadians and the democratic process. What else is in there?!

Copyright is to protect the right sod those that work hard to produce something worthy. Politicians that have massive funds should not have the right to content for free, period!
