Cutting the funding for people with a disability is inhibiting them further. Talk about kicking someone whilst their down. Giving hope to anyone, disabled or not, is the most powerful thing. ENable them, don't DISable them.

My sister also attends a Yooralla day program and is affected by these potential transport cuts. I too urge you to leave your offices and visit the day centers, meet the clients - our family members, friends and loved ones, and think about how cutting transport to the bases (day centers) will affect the clients, the people who care for them and the staff. So far the communication my family has had with Yooralla on this topic has been dismissive, unempathetic and goes against the very ideals of Yooralla. Use this opportunity to show the clients and the vast, strong network of their supporters that you are able to put their best interests first - before money and politics. By spending time with and talking to your clients and their carers/families/friends, you can consult with them to ensure that you are in fact putting their best interests first, rather than deciding what is best across the board, with no space for individuality, from a location far removed from the realities of your clients, their families and friends.

Quite easy to target one of the most vulnerable group of people in our society. I am writing this for Elizabeth who has no voice of her own. She does however have an amazing mother Helen and many people who love her. Please consider the implications of this decision for those parents/carers who work rely on this. I'm sure there are other areas to consider with regard to saving money, such as Ministerial entitlements, defence spending, Grand Prix - just to name a few.

The proposal to stop Yooralla transport for their vulnerable clients is a travesty of social justice. Its people who who the planets most valuable asset, not dollars and cents. Be good if we could care for each other, instead of seeing others as as dollars and cents to be cut from a budget, with callous disregard for those who need our help, just to sustain their being. Shame on you bean counters!! , with callous disregard for those in need.

I think it is a terrible injustice that Yooralla is taking such drastic measures cutting funding to transportation of their clients to essential day programs. They require social interaction and stimulation. It is wrong to deprive the clients of this vital service. Carers of their loved ones devote their lives to their family but many are financially and physically unable to transport their loved ones. The idea of a taxi as an alternative is ludicrous as many of these clients require special care by trained personnel. This cannot be the responsibility of a taxi driver. I plead to Yooralla to reconsider your decision.

My daughter attends FirstBase Ferntree Gully. As a parent of a disabled person, my family and I focus daily on the positives in her life and are very proud of all that she achieves. However, now, Because of Yooralla's decision to remove transport from it's Day Centres without consulting or working in partnership with the clients and their families, I am forced to focus on the extreme negatives of my daughter's disability in order to be heard. Yooralla, please reconsider your decision and help us give our children the care and respect they so rightly deserve.

It is an injustice that Yooralla is taking away such a vital service away from clients and their families. This move stops many from attending vital and essential programs as well as forcing families to have the make the heart breaking decision not to let them attend due to the extra financial pressure this adds and the inability to be able to get them there. It’s disgraceful that Yooralla are putting families in this position!

This is the most horrendous decision politicians can make. A completely disabled person needs this service essentially, medically, socially and financially. I would like to see a politician put in this place. The situation would soon be rectified. If this is what they call a duty of care then I question the morality of such people.

Please give them the support they need. Cutting from children who rely on quality if life which is limited ... At least give them transport do they can enjoy what joys they can.. Really cut those people who abuse centrelink or criminals and leave these beautiful children / adults funding alone!!!!
