Shame on you Yooralla and the Victorian State Government. My brother Scott attends your day program in Noble Park and it is so so disgusting to hear that you are cutting funding to his much needed transport for the day program. Scott, like many other of your clients, has absolutely no contact from ANY friends outside his day program activities, he sits at home all weekend in a shared house accomodation, where he gets a visit once a week from a family member (usually myself or his parents) and he absolutely loves the activites at his day program. Without the much needed funding, he is unable to even afford to go to his day program. There are so many expenses and loop holes with assistance for wheelchairs, shower chairs, medical needs, etc etc etc, the list goes ON and ON, and now with the cuts to the transport funding, he is once again dismissed and prevented from having any kind of social existence. Imagine being in a position where you can't pick up the phone and ring your friends or family to say hello, or go down the street and take yourself swimming, or to the city, or to the local shops, or just to go and sit with a friend and enjoy some music together. My brother can't do any of these things, and without the support and assistance, he is affected so so much. You know all this, but you still choose to have your CEO and staff in their company cars rather than help those who can't ASK for help. It makes me sick. I do all I can to visit Scott and help him, and if I was well off and able bodied enough to lift him and shower him and give him everything he needs, I would happily have him live with me so he would never have to be a second class citizen... as that is what he is treated like, and you are making it even worse for him. It makes me absolutely sick and you should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope the media like The Project and various other forms of media get behind the families of the beautiful people we are trying to speak up for. Disabled people are on a pension and not only that, they have countless massive expenses which aren't covered by the Government, and deal with being pushed to the side way too much. Without your transport assistance, it affects them way more than you probably realise... or choose to ignore. The reality is, my poor brother will sit alone without anyone or anything to look at, talk to, or be a part of, waiting patiently til the next time I can visit him after work, or he comes home to my aging parents who probably can't even have him around much longer as much as they used to, because their bodies are so worn and torn from years of lifting, moving, helping and being his helpers. It's extremely sad and horrible to think you are contributing to his life being worse off, when you claim to be here to make the lives of people with a disability BETTER OFF.
This petition is to raise the awareness of this ridiculous change and to hopefully get much needed media attention for our friends and family members with a disability who RELY on these transport services.

We just hit 500 signatures and I am honestly shaking a little because I truly did not think people would pay this much attention to Scott and his friends. It is wild to think about five hundred people stopping to care about this when so many others just look away. I saw a comment from someone I have never met who said they know someone in the same situation and it just felt so heavy and real.

I honestly never thought we would see this kind of momentum when I started this late at night while just feeling pure frustration about Scott. It is overwhelming to see so many of you acknowledging how wrong these cuts are because he deserves to get out of that house and see his friends away from all the corporate nonsense.

I was just looking at the count and seeing how many people are joining this fight for Scott and it is really something how we are getting closer to that hundred mark now. If everyone could just get this in front of one more person we might actually force them to pay attention to how wrong this decision is because they cannot keep ignoring us forever if we just keep pushing like this.

This is disgusting and has to be stopped. These parents need some time to themselves or to work, and not all of them can afford a taxi every day or the petrol there and back everyday.
I am a disability pensioner and understand the importance of day programs, and impact these activities have on the lives of participants - please make it a priority to continue them and not limit transport options!
This decision is not fair. How can you say that these people can be "independant" when frankly, it's totally unsafe and unfair to leave them without supervision in taxis and important medical assistance, and they will likely not even be able to afford to go to their day programs without the assistance of the funding.
My cousin May is completely wheelchair bound and is not able to move independently or speak. Cutting transport to her day program means her parents need to take her or the program is cut for her.
C'mon Yooralla, think about it. If the clients can't get there, there's no point in providing the service. This will be yet another reduction in service levels and therefore less reason for the community to support Yooralla - is that really what you want?
Disabled people need help not cuts, it is hard enough living with a disability without Government cutting essential needs. I question the morality of people making decisions that make life less bareable for the disabled.
Cut the politicians salaries and make a big difference

As parents of our late son Craig who attended First Base noble Park for many happy years, we both know how important is was for him to be involved with the various activities and interaction with all the clients and staff at the Base was for him.
