This is hellish. Shetland is being taken over by the same mentality that has poisoned the rest of the globe we used to be real and human. Thats more important than anything else. What the hell is this all about. HNP has been here for our community for lifetimes. We should be supporting and considering them first and foremostly. How many engineers have they trained. Giving our young a splendid start in life. What is going on here?

Owner mv Russataign the service of hnp would be a big loss to our business and the location is a big advantage as we can walk up to the workshop from the quayside

I'm a fisherman and use HNP regularly. To lose such a facility would be devastating for the fishing and marine industries.

"SLAP is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Shetland Charitable Trust(SCT). The Trust was established to benefit the inhabitants of Shetland and is overseen by a Board of 15 Trustees."
Difficult to reconcile these FINE WORDS with endangering the livelihood of 16 employees and their families immediately before Christmas.

This affair seems a little odd. But pretty much par for how private businesses are treated by the 'Shetland state'. Halls of residence could go anywhere. A marine engineering firm can't. And what sort of company accepts a higher offer which is only conditional on planning consent?

Where do we go now? Over the years we have turned to hnp for their extreme lathe work saving us £1000s on down time as the job would have to be sent South.
I fully suport this vital service. The fishing fleet etc will be at a loss. After all, why bother building student acommodation if you SLAP intent to strangLE any industry they may come to rely on?

It surely must be possible to get another site for UHI accommodation without evicting an important company like HNP

Another shaddy business in Shetland. Maybe it is time to transfer the local island power structure to the Highlands authorities to stop this sort of behavior.

I have found HNP engineers to be second to none and in my view that is how they should be treated.

As well as this petition we need another one to show how many people have lost confidence in SLAP and the Charitable Trust management.

Are any of the SLAP Trustees shareholders in the Marlex, or the chipshop?
Thinking - ah, students - they'll spend their grants on chip suppers and beer!

Engineering companies like this are a vital part of the local economy and the character of the town. There is no justifiable case to displace them from their current premises and thus threaten this key source of employment.
Lay her on
