That's messed up, and really unfair

The football team home game hotels should be cut. Unnecessary things should be cut in each department-not entire teams.

UB alumnus; class of '88. The son of one of my friends in Dayton OH was planning to start his freshman year at UB and swim for them, until Monday.

This is not right to do to the people you kicked to the curb.

I am a coach of a local club swim team that has sent numerous athletes to UB over the past 26 years. These men and women have gone on to extremely fulfilling lives. I do know that being a part of a team at the collegiate level helps them with their studies and pride which enables them to succeed in the next phases of their life. One of the strengths of our program is to teach all our swimmers that college swimming is an option no matter where in the country you want to go. In this situation, you have a program in Buffalo that has been very strong over the recent years and can and should be an option for them. These kids have trained 1000's of hours to have the chance of making a college team and when they choose a school like the University of Buffalo, everyone wins. You are bringing in a young person with a strong work ethic which likely leads to strong academic performances. I support all the teams in this scenario completely.

If you want to spend absurd amount of money on football team home hotel stays and gourmet food so you can "stay competitive" then how about actually be competitive instead of using that as an excuse. That money could have been used to facilitate at least one team. Like how about your only successful sport men's soccer. I'm a collegiate football player and I think it's nonsense and that says something

These schools made a commitment to these student athletes. The students deserve at least a year to plan, transfer, participate in the recruiting process for next year's season, etc. The school has a responsibility to model good business practices to these student athletes. Honor the contracts/promises that were made.

It's just horrible how and why this decision has been made and to blindside these student athletes is unexcusable

I have swam many meets at the UB pool. The men's team, as well as the women, deserve stay put and use the great facility to grow as athletes and human beings!

The loss of these programs needs to be evaluated by someone who has half a brain. To build a stadium for a football team that can't win doesn't make sense. Put the money into the sports that have already proven success.
