Greater transparency and specific cost details are essential

I do not support this substantially unnecessary project and the tax increases that will follow.

I at least want to see greater detail on proposed bids and possible reconsideration of scope to bring the project closer to original estimated cost.

I totally agree with the comments as outlined in Jason’s letter. As a resident who lives across the street from Central Park, even though I benefit almost daily from my use of the park, these costs are excessive and a project of this scope will cost all of us significantly in increased taxes. Democracy dies in darkness. Our Board needs to be fully transparent with their constituents and really needs to reevaluate the need for such a huge expenditure that will saddle all of us with significant bond obligations for decades.

I can cannot support the building of this Rec Center without further discussion, the cost is outrageous.

I do not want this. Multiple options in the area. This is not needed. We need to hedge inflation, not invest in this insane project. Who is paying for this? Doylestown Country Club budgeted $5M for their project. Coming in, for now, just under $10M. The finance committee was against it. The members went forward with it. This sounds too familiar. Costs will come in above estimates and their will be loans taken out to complete the project and taxes raised. Again, who is paying for this? Also, tax payers have to pay for entry? Not happening on my watch.

No one can afford any more taxes….this project would only serve to increase our already high taxes ! The fact that all bids have increased exponentially proves this project is more than we citizens can afford.

This is a ridiculous use of taxpayer money, especially in the current economic climate.

City needs to understand how gyms work-they can’t fund their business based on drop ins but rather sustained monthly membership. With our roads in complete disrepair, no air conditioning at some of schools, an underfunded project should not be our priority.

This is an absurd use of our tax dollars

This is big, open, beautiful space that kids play soccer on, people walk and enjoy the open view, play with their dogs, picnic, etc…we really don’t need a ginormous rec building 1 mile from the YMCA. Paid for with our tax dollars that we also have to pay to use with our taxed money? Come on. Please stop building on top of what should be a preserved open space at one of the only nice parks in our area.

Yes to pickleball courts. Yes to removing portables from the existing basketball courts to make them useable again. No to an expensive building and gym facilities when the YMCA is 5 minutes away.

I fully support the halting this expensive and unnecessary project as it currently stands.
