STOP the Desert Flower Camping Resort on Highway 110

Pardon my bit of honest response to this concept proposal. Really?!? No! I haven't any problem with what a resident of our community wants to do on their land, within reason. I won't reiterate on the overall obvious- no thank you- reasons the neighbors have stated. I'm sure you're real nice folks, but, horrible idea with complete lack of..... what, I don't know what. All that work that man with the adobe's has done, there(here) every day. Then that ruckus goes up in his back yard? No. Lots of us out here have been going to work, then coming home to work on our dream spots. This is my first and only HOME I've ever had. 22 years out here so far, and it's not for sale to the highest bidder (is it? County Commissioners? Come on, we know it's not). Alright. My wife and I own property within 1000 feet of the property. This will be an environmental problem (density, impact on animals/land, fire risk, etc.), will decrease the beauty (and property value), and is a commercial activity that violates the SUP process that is supposed to protect land owners.

I am entirely opposed to the Desert Flower project. I share a property line with it and do not want tent platforms within a few feet of my backyard. I'm planning on building a house on my land. The future of the area is residential. Commercial properties do not belong. Who would want to camp there anyway, with houses surrounding them?

This is ridiculous and needs to be stopped!!

This proposal was not made public long enough for those affected to organize against it. CR110 is in terrible shape and can’t handle more traffic. The slide trail has become so busy already without the addition of glampers nearby. Way to make the quiet, beautiful landscape a playground for tourists in a residential neighborhood. Please repeal your decision to approve this project.

My and my wife's land border the land where the Desert Flower Camping site will be. In Phase 2, tent platforms will be very close to our property line. We love the natural beauty of this land and plan on building a home there. We absolutely do NOT want this project right on our property line. The future of this land is residential, NOT commercial. It will be an eye=sore, especially with the trailer and shipping container. Please. This project MUST be stopped.

I totally agree that having this campground in t Vista Linda neighborhood is INSANE and must not be permitted!

The campground will not benefit the neighborhood in any way, but will have a substantial negative impact. It thus fails to meet the requirements specified in Section 4.6.1, paragraph 1, "Use," in the application for a Special Use Permit. As it will also have a detrimental visual impact on the neighborhood, it also fails to meet the requirement specified in Section 4.6.1, paragraph 2. It is an ill advised project, even from the standpoint of its proposers, given that future development will surround it with houses and, potentially, future, more appropriate commercial development. A house currently under construction will stand about 40 ft. from the nearest of the tent platforms and prominently within the viewscape of all the rest, not at all a good situation for the future occupants of that house and hardly conducive to the communication with nature that the project hopes to offer its customers.

Ridiculous place to put a campground!!! Where’s the environmental impact assessment. I mean a real one. Promises to be, “good neighbors” ring hollow. Stop this in it’s tracks.

I have many deep concerns about this venture and how it will affect the neighborhood and neighbors, the land, the values and culture that make Taos such a unique place. I also have grave doubts about the way this plan seems to have been pushed through, with little or no notice to the residents most directly to be affected and insufficient public input. Thank you.

Opposed for all the reasons enumerated above.

The Taos County and Town of Taos Officials need to stop catering to the tourists and start looking after the locals. Create jobs, real affordable housing, and let the town grow. Listen to the locals who have been here for generations, not the carpetbaggers who want things their way.

This is not appropriate for the neighborhood.

We are building a home west of this property and are dismayed by this proposal's potential impact on aquifer, dark skies, wildlife and traffic. It does not belong here.

Careless, ridiculous lack of planning. And total disregard for the public!
