I am currently coordinating with local preservationists to prepare a formal presentation for the Diocese. Post this link to your Facebook page and text the petition to three friends who care about our town history. We need to keep the pressure on our local representatives until they take a public stance on the demolition.

The momentum behind this campaign proves that our community refuses to let this piece of history be destroyed. Please save this historical building. The Alamo was going to be torn down to make a parking lot but my ancestor staged a sit-in and won. It is now a major Texas tourist attraction. Please do not be short-sighted!
From the very Beginning I spoke to Fr Larry about this but I was just a Voice in the wilderness. I suggested they would tear down the Church office and built it there. A Praying Chapel does not need much. If it was safe for kids to eat lunch there, then the building cannot be that unsafe.
My husband and I were married there in 1965 by Monsignor Ralph. I was 15 years old and my husband was 21 years old. We have very fond memories of St. Anthony's and hate to see it destroyed. Please reconsider the demolition process.
I went to school here received my baptism, first communion, and confirmation here! This church is a land mark. It has enriched many live through the teachings provide and education received from the school. Restore it don't demolish it!!!
IT WAS MODELED AFTER A CAROLINGIAN MONASTERY ST GALL FROM THE 800s. I have argued that this could become a Eucharistic Adoration Chapel that would serve the needs of all three catholic churches in Harlingen. Special collections could be done to help in the maintenance of this building.

So sad to hear my childhood church wasn't considered Holy enough to save. I understand the school needs more space for the children, too bad they couldn't find another spot to build on. My husband and I don't live in Harlingen anymore, but we remember "home".
