Honestly, the fact that I have previously emailed the college asking if they provided us RECEs with professional development opportunities and they said not at this time is rediculous. They are making us do this CPL yet don't even provide us with PD, although they are supposed to be the COLLEGE OF RECES. We work SO hard and do a very important job yet get paid peanuts and have to do this CPL which is a complete waste of PAPER and time.

We all work really hard . We do not have the time to fill out our proof of professional development because we are always looking for ways to improve.

I personally reflect and work towards becoming a better teacher every day. I don’t need to or e or show a portfolio of what I do. Come into my classroom and I can show you what I do.

I am all for continuing education, that makes complete sense. However this added paperwork on top of classroom documentation is just too much.

With so much of our personal time sucked up by planning, prep, documentation, and our already ongoing committment to professional growth, we don't need anything added to our overloaded, underpaid plates. Enough. The public interest can be served without breaking us.

We pay a high annual fee, required to do the same work as a higher (salary) paid teacher yet receive NO prep time, still have to collect unemployment in the summer and receive low hourly wages. Now with the NO extra time we have to do our job during the day, let alone see our own children and families at night after work or on the weekend we have to complete CPL (which school boards already require us to do for them as well) We can't MAKE more time. We NEED prep and better pay!

The CPL is bulls**t. In fact the whole college of ece is. We are expected to pay over to $200 to register and then pay yearly. We don’t even get a card given to us anymore when we renew. And now they make this CPL mandatory. I think PD is important for each person/Centre but it shouldn’t be forced. What I think needs to be enforced is the college doing more for their members. The college should be working together to get all ECE’s unionized across the province. This would ensure fair pay across the board and would Le-Vel out the pay gap between the school board ece and the child care ece. I also think with this that we could work on getting pensions, better benefits and PD days. This college and government expect so much from all of us but yet don’t pay us for it. And for the record, I agree with the other people about the reduced ratios. We are also getting screwed and having to work longer hours but not getting paid for them.

Coline Trinetti Canada,Chatham I believe we should keep current on our learning but to demand the amount of work you are asking for is a bit much with a full time job and life commitments. Let us show our you the workshops or online courses and that should be the end of it.

This is absolutely ridiculous. What more can they ask of us when they take our money and we get nothing in return?

I fully support removing the CPL from our requirements. I’m all for Professional development but not this way. It takes time away from our families and we aren’t paid enough for doing more work than we already do. I feel that this should be the responsibility of the employer to keep us up to date with PD.

Honestly I am in favour of professional development, but not this way... Why can’t the College put the onus on employers? I think they should be the ones filling out paperwork and jumping through hoops - the college should monitor if they have provided enough professional development opportunities to the staff they employ and see that they are paying for it. This is ridiculous. The college is a joke. They could at least support ECEs in some way not just take our money! I understand the intention, but it’s not working!

It is totally not fair for us for ECEs to do all we do and when we come home to spend with our own children we shoukd be worried about this CPL . Why don't you we go to workshops instead CPL where we can go interacting with other ECE 's and the same time learning and refreshing what we know. Make the work shops manditory just like school board. We work in daycares that we never get sick days or bounce.
This CPL is nothing but stress for the most venerable people in society.
