So so tired of the unfair treatment of ECEs yet always added work loads. And now the CLP. This is definitely a dying career field and for good reason.

I agree that professional development but maybe the college should start supporting the professionals instead of making them constantly prove their worth. Fight for higher pay that is sustainable in this economy, provide professional development courses, mandate that employers must allow time to do professional development. The CECE should be helping our profession to be seen in the public as a profession and until action is taken on the above we will never be taken seriously. The CLP is just going to cause dedicated and experienced professionals to burn out and leave the field. Please review.

I agree with all these comments. So over worked . Give so much of our own time and money to this job. This takes even more time away from my family. For little more than minimum wage. We are at our breaking point.

I agree that professional development is an important part of our profession. We continue to evolve our practises as we build on current knowledge but the timelines feel forced and it is incredibly time consuming in the format we are given. Keeping track of our pd is a great idea but I think our goals are self evident in what we choose to research and as responsible professionals we shouldn't need to prove our thought process as if we are high school students. We work hard and are often under paid. In the school board I am in, we do not have paid prep time or paid time to collaborate with team members. We do a lot in our own time already and are underacknowledged for our work as Early Childhood Educators. I wish for more support from the college of ECE rather than added stress of punitive action if I don't write out 15 pages on my personal goals and more justifications for already undervalued creative work.

I agree we all need to be attending PD's. It's important to keep upgraded and refreshed in our careers. However, they are done in our own time, and I feel the CPl is extremely time consuming. It should be mandatory to participate in PD's , minimum 10 hours/year, but have your employer track and sign for it. The CPL process is extreme. Takes too much time. I do my job well, but I don't get paid enough to put extra time in. Zero appreciation and acknowledgement.

The CPL program is just "homework." We already plan activities for our students on our own time, have families and personal lives, some of us second jobs to compensate for the low wages we make... Where is the time and energy going to come from? We already have strict guidelines and polices that we so carefully abide in our tire some day to day... Now we have this forced, added stress to complete this "homework" or else the threat of loosing our jobs? I for one did not sign up to be an ECE to have this unnecessary stressors... I signed up for my love for the students and the simple rewards of watching them learn and grow each day. It is very unfortunate to say that I predict soon a shortage and loss may come to this profession.

Webinars sign in is at 645pm, I don’t get home until almost 7pm after a 10-6 shift. I would appreciate time flexibility to do the CPL. I am already cutting down lunch time and staying late to finish recording all observations and documentations, and doing other hundred stuff that needs to be done in the classroom to make sure we provide the best learning experiences for the children. I attend all citywide trainings and seminars I can get my hands to. I read books, journals and publications and watch Ted Talks to keep myself abreast with the latest trends and resources. We could use more support than this feeling of having to prove ourselves as educators/teachers every time. Make it mandatory for employers to facilitate the training the College requires in our paid time. That is one way to support us. We can work together.

I understand the requirement for professional development but, there are limited opportunities to do so. Also there is zero time to do all of these requirements. So many RECE do some of their work at home, causing burnout.

Why do we pay the college $150 a year? So far I have seen no benefits for me as a professional and now more work with this CPL. It should be available for those interested but should NOT be mandatory!

If you participate in raising the bar or like programs it should count as your CPL.
