I am a highly motivated RECE who continually strives to improve my practice. I wry much enjoy professional development and learning seeking it out both through my employment and personally for interest. I am a natural goal-setter but I find it stressful to document and prove my professional learning in this manner. Work is fulfilling but long and my family time is my family. I would much rather be able to simply write a letter each year outlining all the wonderful things I have done and learned that enrich my abilities, expand my skill set, and increase my knowledge in the field. Perhaps a more flexible approach to CPL where people could choose how to demonstrate how they took ownership of learning the way that works best for them.

I don't mind doing professional learning, I actually find it interesting but to follow up with all the paperwork the CPL requires is crazy. If I can provide the date and name of the workshops I've done I feel like that should suffice. Something needs to change.

CPL did contribute to me deciding that I had no choice but let my ece registration go and stay in a field that requires the same professional development without the cost and extra work. I would absolutely love the opportunity to work on professional development but not at the cost of time away from my family and burn out. It was extremely difficult to balance 2 jobs and cpl requirements. If it was a smoother process and easier to accomplish and attain the cpl mandates it would make a world of difference for people entering and maintaining/blending successful personal and work lifestyles.

This would greatly impact the well being of not only the children and families we work with daily, but also our own children and lives. Please consider!

The pressure for the CPL process takes a significant chunk of time away from my family, I can be accountable for my professional development without having a fee, paper trail hung over my head. Low wages, no benefits, high annual fees contribute to the high burn out rate that ECE's face. Its unfair and most certainly unreasonable. We need change.

I have worked in the childcare field from 2006-2015 when I had my first daughter. After some issues returning to work due to PPD, I have had a lot of struggles affecting my ability to comply with the CPL. It needs work. It needs to support the field, not be a burden. It should have flexibility based on the needs of the members to accommodate time spent away from the field. I have been out of the field but tried to return in 2019. Then after having my second child in Aug 2019, I have yet to be able to return to work for various reasons. I would love to return to the field someday but I fear I won't be able to as I am so far behind. We need help to make this work better for all members and families.

As our job requires we do many PD throughout the year. Instead of making ECE’s do a CPL just let them have the PD documented through their work

Our companies and organizations we work for already have staff making goals and putting expectations down on their staff. I think it be left to the staffs employer to continue to ensure their staff continue to grow and learn and not have additional expectations like CPL to do.

I support continuing to learn but not monitored on it.

I work 2 jobs plus I'm on a committee for ece's on top of having a family. I do not have time to keep up with the paperwork of the CPL. I do all the professional development required and more. I help plan and facilitate pd for other RECE's because I believe in continuing education and feel I shouldn't have to stress about making sure I have met the requirements, the documenting, the constant goal setting and reflection on my goals. It's too much stress.

Just saying, it's been 9 years out of college and I can't make loan repayments. I still work casually. I had a 97% avg throughout college though, and have a good work ethic. But I've had to work 2 jobs to keep things going for 5 years now. I left a toxic relationship and now I live in subsidized housing. I went to college and make less than the poverty line. This is God Damn oppression.

The cost for the college and requirements of the CPL NEED to change considering the little pay and respect we as ECEs are given. College of Teachers does not require their members to show prove of constant professional development.

I would like to see the CPL program cease or simplified. There are no hours left after working all day , attending appointments , family commitments . We do enough PD I don’t feel this is necessary. Also the fee we have to pay for this yearly is ridiculous especially with what we get paid already.

Absolutely true, you are speaking most of the ECE's words.
