The CPL program holds us accountable. Who holds the people that hinder us from fulfilling our requirements to adhere to the code of ethics and standard of practice? DECEs know what I’m talking about.

CPL is an extra thing to do on top of all the hardwork we do and profesional devlopment workshop we take at our work place. Also, I don't see any support from the College of ECE regarding our benifits and minimum wage. They supposed to speak up for our rights as well.

We work so hard we don’t have a union. I think the college should be are union. Also offer benifits for us as well.

I agree CPL is cumbersome and takes too much personal time. As already stated the PD is also done on our time with no compensation. Keep PD requirements but have employers monitor (by receiving certificates or receipts as proof of attendance) and notify CECE when an employer has not meet their yearly requirements. I am fortunate to work in an area where there is a networking group that does provide many PD sessions for free and offers certificates. They are doing there part to help the RECE attain the colleges goals. Please let up on the paperwork. I do enough at home already.

We work so hard and don't get the recognition we deserve. The CECE is saving money not sending out cards and yet have not decreases the fees we pay. Everyone at the CECE has revived a pay increase from our membership.

100% agree. I’m so glad this petition has started. Let’s keep it going and get everyone’s signature.

Our profession should be highly respected period. We help raise these children to be the best humans they can be, while their parents leave them for up to 8 to 10 hours a day in our care to provide for their families. We have been "professionals" since completing our degrees. The College should advocate for better wages for us "RECE'S!" We give these children the fundamentals they so desperately deserve and need in their early years. But all we get is more paperwork thrown at us. We don't receive the pay we so rightfully deserve. And in the end, this causes major burnout because we can't focus on who's really important, the children.

Agree 100%. Lowest paid registered profession. Professional development happens in the work place, we don’t need the College imposing more work on us! Would appreciate more time and effort into actually recognizing us as professionals and that being reflected with higher salaries. The fee is also costly for those who earn just slightly over minimum wage.

Definitely do not have the time to do this...I work a PM shift and by the time I get home I'm EXHAUSTED...my weekends are for my errands and getting my life together, once again, DO NOT have time. It's bad enough we have to pay $150 to be paid some of the lowest wages, but add work on top of that? Teacher's are not forced to do something like this-they are respected and trusted by their unions and college.

so much time is wasted trying to write these the correct way, which most of us still dont know! and a clear picture is not shown of the actual child. just a fluffy happy paragraph.

The College of ECE is a Regulating body yes, but we pay more for our membership than teachers who we are partnering in school with. The other issue I have is the 8-10 week processing wait. Money paid and paperwork sent in. Only to not hear anything and 6 days before renewal is due to hear they don't have anything even with an email confirmation that they received paperwork? Incredibly ridiculous. The tine spent completing this takes away for our families and our lives - we should be able to use our goals from our employment evaluations and leave it at that.

Don't not force unwanted P.D on us. Let us choose our own P.D. or offer a variety of P.D. options to choose from. If you are going to require us to do it, either pay us for our time or reduce our yearly fees.

PD is so important for development and growth. That being said, having to complete this every two years is ridiculous and three goals is to much. You can't expect in depth focus and implementation with three goals. One goal every three years...that I can handle. The college expects a high level of professionalism and I agree...but they are asking a lot from people who make $16 and hour.

Agreed! Teachers are respected enough to be understood as life long learners but ECEs not. Again another way to separate us from being true partners. The expectations continue to be different.

I support this petition 100%!! I don’t need to spend more hours sitting in front of a computer, completing CPL modules when I’m fully capable of, and take every opportunity to engage in professional learning on my own time.

My suggestion is that every ECE in Ontario refuse to do the CPL and refuse to join the College of ECE’s. They cannot revoke our college/university certificates and diplomas that gave us the earned right to use the title Early Childhood Educator. If they attempted to do this, meaning we cannot work in our chosen profession, I wonder who will staff childcare centres?
