This is a lot of added work with minimum time to complete

Other forms of professional development must be equivalent to the CPL ccle such as; pursuing a degree and attending workshops and conferences to name a few. This regimented, cookie cutter professional development too,l is not responsive to who ECEC workers are and the workplaces we occupy.

I agree professional development is important and always nice to build on what you have but the CPL is ridiculous. As so many have stated it is just taking time away from our families, adding extra stress to an already demanding job burning us out faster and creating animosity towards our profession. The worst part is that they are charging us $150 per year to only make us do more work....yep pay someone else to add extra work to your life...sounds questionable doesn't it????

I’m a RECE and It is my pleasure to Serve families by teaching and giving care to their young children. I’m not against professional development but I found CPL is time consuming and it’s adding more work to our busy schedule. If College of ECE cares about our professional development then please provide us with ways that is not time consuming and less stressful. During the day we engage/ interact with children, supervise the children and meeting their needs. During the Prep time We try to meet up the administrative requirements/ paperwork, plan indoor/ outdoor programming, observations/ documentations, taking / printing pictures, and organizing/ disinfecting the classroom. Working with young children requires a lot of patience and energy and our physical and mental health is a must in this field. My request from our college is to provide us with facilities and programs that helps reduce our stress not to put more stress on us. Thanks

Perhaps proof of professional development that has be done.... A certain amount of professional development hours via workshops, webinars, literature etc per year.

I feel that these requirements are unacceptable. The college of ECE’s does not stand by their members. I work in the school board and a couple years ago when we were involved in sanctions the college actually stated that they could do nothing for us if we had to go on strike. If you stand by your members in a more effective way, considering the amount that is paid in dues each year per member, maybe the members wouldn’t mind to follow through with requirements to fulfill and keep there membership up to date. Stand by your members stop being a money grab!

I am dedicated enough. I should not have to take time away from my own children to prove this

I participate in Professional Development programs after work and on PA days with the school board. I do not understand this CPL I am required to complete. I work long days with no planing time and my breaks are taking up with chores I have to complete before going back to the classroom. My evening and weekends are for my family. But, I have to research activities for my classroom, complete documentation of learning and pick out stories and crafts I would like to do with my students. This time should be with my family! I do not even get paid for this time! Also, try to understand this CPL!! I think the College should look at what our jobs are requiring us to do and how the RECE's are not being recognized or respected in our profession!

Underpaid and pushing burn out.... no respect.... but hey let's give RECEs who earned, paid and keep paying out of pocket and prove their degree everyday more work! Thanks for the help, NOT! This is why good hard working people leave this so called profession that I happen to love- I stay for my kids. Sad!

Kindly make our renewal process easy, as Ontario college of teachers. Ece college should have resourceful library and get issue books and latest research journal online. Other wise I donot find any benefit to fill form each year for renewal and extra copy paste CPL. learning should be self motivated.

I am stressing to find the time to complete the CPL that is mandatory for RECE to complete otherwise I get thrown out and not able to refere to myself as an ECE. This is an added stress that I don’t need seeing that I work with toddlers and have so much other paper work to complete daily for each of my 15 toddlers and not to mention the program plans that have to be based on individual observations. Then I come home to care for my 2 younger kids (under the age of 6). When in gods name am I suppose to find time to complete this load of crap?!? I sometimes don’t have time to pee. Literally! And to pay $150.00 yearly. I went to school full time to complete my ece because I enjoy working with children and if I don’t pay, my 2 yrs means nothing. REALLY! where and when is all this BS going to stop? I’m really considering a career change because of all of this. But before I do leave, the college will get a”heart felt letter” from me.

I work full time as an RECE in a Kindergarten classroom, I love my job and I do a lot of extras for it (being a member of our Kindergarten Leadership team for our Board as well as being a mentor for new ECE’s at our Board). I have 4 kids and my husband works all of the time so I’m the one who needs to be there for my kids. Doing the CPL is just one more stress in my life, I’m doing the extras why do I have to prove it?

I am an RECE in a kindergarten classroom. I tach as many, if not more lessons each day as my OCT partner. I am belittles and degraded every day and feel the majority of us will never actually be seen as an equal partner in the classroom. I get no prep time to prepare my daily activities and lessons, or to go through and analyze my documentation. It all has to be done on my own time. It seems no one is fighting for prep for us, but instead are increasing our workload. I have been an RECE more than 30 years and value PD immensely. My board provides some, and I appreciate any free workshops and webinars I can find, as money is tight on my single income. However, adding the stress of all of the paperwork and the fear of "am I doing this correctly or could I lose my standing if I make a mistake and am audited", doesn't seem fair.

Enough with the extra work on top of everything else we do! If you want me to do more work then reduce the fees to the college!

I like the weekly Standardsmatter. I will watch the Webinar and read the articles, but I don’t have enough classroom data to finish the writing since I am a supply ECE. I sometimes supply as an EA in order to get enough hours for EI in the summer.

I agree, I feel the CPL is adding stress and expense to my life. Many of us have second jobs just to make our monthly bills. I don't have time and money to be using on extra training that does not increase my wages. I am soon to be retired and my goal are just that. I have done my career building and training over the years!
