I agree. The work load we have is big enough. adding all this extra work makes me not love what I do anymore. I am accountable to my supervisor and that is good enough for me. to have all this extra work to hand into people we don't know is ridiculous. I rather just pay my fees and move on.

Some of us are busy enough with work, some have multiple jobs to cover for low wages, and some are working full-time AND going to college/university. The demands of CPL is time consuming and does not accomodate or support us in a way that we should be as ECEs.

I am in total agreement with the points outlined in this petition. The demands are unnecessary and time consuming for already busy professionals. I am all for professional development but in my own time and at my own pace.

I have two children with autism in my class. I do not have the time or energy to be doing extra work. This field is hard enough without the extra work of the portfolios. The College needs to advocate for us by making the wages higher and making our jobs less stressful... Not more stressful.

I would like have that time for my family instead, because I do a lots of professional training from my work, and goals setting every year. I don’t think there is need to put more of our family time into this.

It seem rather unfortunate that this CPL is causing as much stress as it is. Even just renewing our membership is stressful (even more so with the increase in late fees) now for them to pile the CPL on us!

I do feel that The College considers us professionals but the school board with which I teach does not. Nor does the Ministry of Education. There is definitely a disconnect between The College and the board/ministry and I don't know how to fix it. I believe we need The College to advocate for us more and we need to do this for ourselves. I am (still) an occasional (supply) ECE and working on building up my experience and seniority. Because of this, I have no home school and am not given opportunities for any professional learning. I am only considered support staff with NO extra prep and planning time even if given a long-term occasional position. Anything I do for my classrooms is done on my own time in the evenings and weekends. Sometimes this is a LOT of time because I love what I do and do it for the kids, not the school board. To have The College threaten us that we will lose our title of RECE title if we do not follow the CPL guidelines to their expectations (and this can be quite difficult for an occasional employee) does not feel like I am a professional. College of ECEs...please help us fix this disconnect!!

I am already required to create an Annual Learning Plan for my place of employment, which I am expected to work on my goals each year and revisit/revise my plan each school year. Not sure why I then need to duplicate this process on my own time, which I have precious little of with family and work demands. The College of ECE really needs to rethink the CPL.

I'm all for continuing education but not when we are at the bottom of the paying scale and we have other part-time jobs to support ourselves.

Low wages, not treated or respected as a teacher, you pay the membership thry don't support you through problems at work and they don't advocate for you. We pay so much money for thé colllege of ece memership and we need to do a cpl portfolio invloves work and time. I also do a lot of my own professional development of my own. I wanted to be treated as a teacher even If I am an ece teacher and paided more so I didnt go to teachers college doesnt mean that my job is less than these people. This sucks big time!!!

I am not against professional development. I am against the extra work when I already have so much in my job description already.

It's unfair to do more work when we do so much already. So much paper work to gather and not enough time. We work all day and our pay is terrible. We pay so much into the membership and there is nothing to show for. Where is all this money going to. We should be getting more money for the work we do with the children and other duties that comes with an rece teacher. We have families to attend to and part time jobs to go to because of large amounts of bills we have and the big mortgage to pay. I find it unfair and unnecessary to do the CPL. this has to stop. We have a life after work. I want to be with my families . I don't want to do anymore homework. We are already doing this in child care.
