My job is stressful enough without having to fill out all this extra paperwork!

I agree...the CPL is a waste of time and energy. Most staff work 8-10 hours a day, add family, errands and other family responsibilities and you have a total burn out of professionals so as to justify your jobs one the college.

It would be nice for the college to justify were this money is going and why the increase..

I have to agree that the CPL is an added stresser that could be implemented in a different manner that is not so time consuming.

Give me the prep time to do it. I have to work on mine over the summer (at a time I should be relaxing)

I too enjoy professional development, but find that the expected extra paper work and expectations from the college on top of my employers expectations and career to be too much. Something has to give and there is not enough time in a day to fit it all in so it would likely be home life suffering, which isn't fair to my spouse or child. I feel my company does a great job making sure we attend pd opportunities, set goals and work to achieve the best standards of practice we can. This added stress to an already stressful and demanding job needs to be rethought.

Agreed I love professional development and taking courses working with colleagues just love it all but this extra paperwork is not required. Maybe another solution other than this.

we have multiple demanding jobs, low wages, and very limited time with our families. WE ARE NOT SUPERHEROS! I am all for professional development but I find insulting, unnecessary, and time consuming the CPL.

I agree that professional development is necessary, but also feel the low wages plus high demands of being an ECE are a bit unreasonable.

I understand why the CPL has been implemented. It is important; in any profession, to stay current, refreshed and inspired. However; before we start asking ECE's to put more on their plate; we need to make their jobs more reasonable.
Ece's are working long; odd hours; which leaves very little time to spend with their family. This also applies to self care, daily errands etc. Every year I see my ECE friends going on stress leave, being injured at work by violent students, or simply burning out because we are doing the job of 3 people.
We are paying $150 a year and we are not seeing any improvement in our jobs. We are treated as second class citizens, as babysitters or as grunt workers. We are physically exhausted from a job that requires us to be on ON ALERT 100% of the time. Always listening, talking, moving, watching, cleaning, feeding, washing, implementing activities, buying supplies with our own money, putting in extra hours at home preparing activities, organizing, providing behavior guidance, providing comfort to children, handling tantrums and violent children, and being disrespected by parents and co workers.
Instead of forcing us to do more paper work; it is time for the CECE to fight for us and our well being. Fix how mistreated we are in the field. Give us a livable wage. Advocate for us.

I do enough professional development through the year that is on my own time I don't think it is fair that we have to do this as well

I am all for professional development. As RECE we strive to provide quality care to children in our programs. But when we are bombarded with an overwhelming amount of paperwork I feel that it takes away from the time with the children. We are already doing what the college is asking for at work, setting goals, meeting with management to make sure those goals are met. What the college is asking is a bit redundant. Not only does it takes away from time at work but it takes away from the time spent with our own kids at home. The multiple pages that is in the required CPL pages, there is no way that can be completed at work. Please, no need to make the life of an ECE more stressful, we have a lot on our plates already.

The demands of an RECE are unfair in comparison to an assistant who will make nearly the same wage doing the same job with none of the extra stress and expectations.
