Revisit the requirements of the CPL program

I am not against PD. I do many PD at my job in the school board. It is exhausting to add on extra random PDs. I don't feel in any way to protected by the College.

Not against PD. Against a regulatory body forcing us to do it. Against paying $160 in annual fees and receiving nothing in return. Against paying more than OCTs who make double what RECE’s make to maintain professional status. Against regulatory bodies that do nothing to support it’s professionals.

I love the recognition, and I understand the membership fee, BUT not the extra work we need to do to hold our title... after already giving more then we should have too, after school, weekends to be recognized, especially in the school boards, and the wages, doing the same amount of work as my teaching partner, wow something has to give here.. NOT to mention the burnout!!!!

It is too much work. An workshops would be fine.

I believe that professional development is essential. However as I try to stay on top of the CPL i get frustrated when I see other professionals keep track of what they do in a much more simplistic manner. We are a group that does not need extra paper work - we already put in more hours then we are paid for.

I am all gircthe college and doing of . However, our wages no release time and no prep time make it hard for us to balance our lives and work!!!

This is ridiculous. I was upset when it first came out as I worked in the field for 20 years and all of a sudden if I am not a member I cannot teach. Then we pay a ridiculous amount of money for nothing. Wait we did get a card oh ya that was taken away. When I emailed to say we were able to use that for discounts. I was told it isn’t for discounts but we could pull it up online to show the store. Like they want us to take the time to do that if they are busy. How much is it to provide us our cards. Maybe that addition 10 dollars you feel the need to increase us up to? Could go towards a card. Now going into the cpl. we as RECE sometimes do not have time on our own time. There is a lot of work put out for us to do. The teachers in a school board who make more then us and have the summers off don’t even have to do all this. Some of my fellow RECE, team teach with them. I just don’t get it. Just would Like to know where our money is going

It's just too much extra work! We have enough on our plates with no planning time and doing that on our own time. And every time we turn around there's another thing added to our jobs...Then we get this!?

It's to much

The CPL is Too much added stress on my day. I rush home from work to take my kids to appointments etc then rush back home to make dinner. Then work on things I need to do for my class. Seeing there is no prep time. Where is my down time or time with my family ?I'm so exhausted I'm in my bed at 8.30pm I feel there is not enough time for CPL. it's way too stressful. Something is very not right with all of this.

I disagree that the fees shouldn’t be raised to 160$. We are already paying a lot for fees already.

I am all for learning more and developing my knowledge but on a time frame and having to log everything is not easy.

I am very aware that your role is to protect the community. However, you also need to value our time and money by providing this service in an affordable and timely manner.

This process is both long and confusing. While working a full-time job and having a family... I have no idea how I will have time to complete it on top of all my other responsibilities at work and home.

I completely agree with what this petition stands for. I renewed my licence in February. I have since decided to change fields and am returning to school. I will miss the children deeply but for my own sanity and to support my own family I cannot work in this field anymore.

Professional development is a very important aspect of our job and any job. I am not denying that fact. With that being said the busy demands of a kindergarten classroom do not leave us anytime to complete the time consuming CPL requirements. This causes added stress to an already stressful work environment. Everything is required to be done at home at our own cost and at the cost of our family and children. Not to mention if you run the extended day portion you get even less time because you have kids your whole shift. Our membership fees were all ready identical to an Ontario Certified Teacher who makes double/triple our wage. How is this justified? We do not make enough money in comparison to our annual college fee and now you have raised it another $10. This is just one more reason why I am leaving the field for the second time in seventeen years. I thought working for the school board and being registered with a college would be better- sadly recognition and annual wages higher than poverty line will never happen in my lifetime. I’m extremely disappointed.

We can't afford to pay more when we already make nothing.

Before you increase the annual fee, and add requirements to the membership requirements, you need to sorry yourself out College of ECE. I have no faith that my money is being well spent. I need a detailed explanation of why it takes 2 months or longer for my membership to get renewed. I need an explanation of how/what the cpl does and how it is to be evaluated. I feel like the College had just given us this "busy work" to placate us.

I find the CPL program extremely stressful and time consuming. I work in a kindergarten classroom where I already don’t have any prep time to complete things I need to do for the class and spend most evenings working at home on things and then have to stay in too if the CPL program. The school board requires me to complete learning goals and expectations and they do an evaluation on my abilities at work. Increasing the fee is ridiculous, we barely make enough money to live on as it is!!! I don’t feel that the college gives me anything back for what they expect from us!!
