The CPL program requires too much of our unpaid time. As a kindergarten DECE, I am already applying my own unpaid work time after paid hours. This program adds stress and takes away from my family

We don’t have time for all this documentation! I have been doing PD since I became an ECE.

ECE teachers work very hard. They have very little free time. I do not feel they need to complete a CPL. They provide documentation and work on goals and participate in many school workshops with teaching staff. They are evaluated by principals every three years. The yearly fee is high. It should be reduced.

This isn’t PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT like in school system, you need to support and provide Hands on training, acknowledging these days, NOT giving extra off job responsibilities to teachers that are already doing LONG HOURS amd a hard job!! Obviously who ever make these rules aren’t RECE! Paying for membership to “ protect” the public but not really to support the best interest of this field ! Who is making these decisions?!!!

I have no issues with doing pd however the cpl feel very overwhelming when you have work and a family to consider. And not all pd reflects what I “need” to go with my cpl.

I love my job... But all this extra CPL requirment isnt making us better Early childhood educators. Being proctive in a sense to attend every PLC or getting us out to more workshops that can help us in the program is a more efficient way to become a professional at our jobs. Not racking up all this extra paperwork..its like being in school all over again . Ontop of that making the yearly fee higher... $10 is a week of coffee in our stressful careers!!

Teachers get Prep time at school we need to continue our job responsibility’s at home and not get paid, many of us are burned out at the end of the day. I do not mind things like webinars where we would watch and Answer questions or to be given three at work situations with a video to be followed by a written assignment. We all are so busy just doing our jobs to the best of our abilities that a years worth of more learning on top of that is almost impossible.

I work over 40 hours a week in a preschool program with 24 children. I am allowed 0 hours a week to work on CPL and it is expected of me to complete this I guess on my own time... I believe CPL should be a thing, but it should also be mandatory for RECE’s in childcare programs to be given PD days similairly to RECE’s in the school board. And we should not have to pay a yearly fee of now 160$, perhaps reducing that fee will motivate more of us to participate in Professionally Learning, we don’t make a ton of money and our job is so important. It’s unfortunate that we are not better respected by the college; by parents; by employers; by the governments, and by society as a whole.

Not to mention all this change (CPL, new pilot project for raised fee-everyones membership being due at the same time-coming out of our pay cheque) is a bit much all at once and confusing!!

Things need to change. So much extra work and time that is required to do the CPL could be used more effectively. (more workshops, curriculum planning for the children we work with and mental health.

I do not agree with the $160. or the extra work that has been put upon us.

The continuous changes in requirements is hard to keep up with. I work in a management position and it proves difficult to find PD to meet requirements. I continue my learning regularly but many courses I take to encourage and support staff. I see my family little due to the extensive work requirement. Rates being raised without little to no benefit to the professional worker. It's a large sum for little kickback

I do not agree on an increase that would be more than OCTs pay when our salaries are not comparable also could we not have a simpler program to make sure RECEs are completing relevant PD?

I very much agree with this petition. I totally believe in the importance of professional development, but the college of ECEs needs to figure out a less time consuming process.
