I am a single mother of 2 ( which I know there are lots others in the same situation) and I seriously don't know where I will find the time to do the CPL!

I stopped paying my fees because I do not have time for the CPLs and do professional learning I am interested in, rather than forced to do.

It is getting very expensive to pay. I have a family to support being a single mother. We don’t get pay enough with our jobs and on top of everything we have to pay to be registered.

I agree the fee is high for the wage we make. We are not getting much in return rather than a R in front of ECE STATUS. There should be more opportunities from the College of ECE to create work shops to better inform us. Some boards dont understand what our role is and we need support from the College to show how our role helps a classroom flow smoothly alongside our OCT and EA. Why are we paying so much for so little support?AECEO had a fee but they returned with workshops in areas of Ontario for AECEO members and non members to attend yearly.

I’m an ECE and I belong to the Ontario College of Teachers. I pay less for the OCT membership than the ECE one and teachers get paid more than ECE’s. How is this fair????

I completely agree with these concerns! We are already doing extra work at home on our OWN time due to no planning time in our job. The demands and stress in regards to our job and low wages already has some amazing professional rethinking our career path and now the added stress of completing the portfolio ( more money and time spent of ours) and paying more fees is outrageous.

The lack of support is astonishing and the expectations are unrealistic.

And the new late fee of $50 is a little ridiculous

The average wage of ECE does not make this expense at all reasonable.

I've been an Early Childhood Educator for 35 years. I love my job and I work hard and am professional. I do PD whenever I can get it and I provide a well balanced program in my classroom. I think The college should do more for us if we are to pay them this much money. The CPL is giving a lot of stress to a lot of people who are already in a high stress job. Mental health issues are on the rise. Don't add to it.

I am both a RECE and an OCT. I think it’s ridiculous that the fees are the same amount, yet I get work to do from CECE and more support and resources from the OCT.

I'm not against professional learning at all! I love continuing to attend workshops and to take courses (I've taken Autism/Behaviour Science and am now working toward my degree through U of G-H) . . . . BUT we work in a recognized low-paid, predominantly female profession, to the extent that our wages are subsidized by the governement through Wage Enhancement Grants, Wage Improvement Grants, and General Operating Grants. I feel the College of ECEs shows a lack of understanding of this. Our professional fees are higher than some who make 2X or 3X more than us. (My husband, for example.) I've been in the field for almost 30 years, and while I see the benefit of having the College of ECEs as a professional regulatory body, I question its execution. And I certainly question the fee increase.

Our salary is a joke and it’s ridiculous how much we wast with college fees. We have no one to represent us and all we get is paper work to do!

The way ECEs have been treated as of late, with the low pay and high work load and member rates that were pay, has forced me to start looking elsewhere for a job. I've been an ECE for over 10 years and never have been so frustrated and discouraged.

The fee is very high for the amount RECEs earn. I understand the reason for CPL but it is onerous and the format is confusing. A portfolio would have made so much more sense. My past employment required this on a yearly basis.

Oct’s pay $150, and they are making 10x more than a lot of us. We are paying the salaries of those at the CECE. We shouldn’t babe paying the same or more than others when we are the lowest paid in most facilities.

I appreciate the fact that we are recognized as professionals in our field just like teachers, nurses, etc...it's hard to appreciate the cost, when we don't make a lot of money in the first place. It doesn't matter if you're in a licensed daycare or within the board. Most people in the board don't get paid during the summer months. They have to apply for unemployment. We don't get extra perks like teachers such as discounts at certain stores. Now with the CPL...yes, where are we getting compensation for time, money? Most of us have families. It's a hard time for most
