With the increase in administrative burden in our field, the CPL is just another added stress

Although this was poorly written I do agree with it. I am constantly doing CPL but feel it is overkill to do all paper work required in order to keep our registration. All you need to know is that we are continuing to learn. Set out a minimum number of hours for CPL. Have us list what we did with a date and amount of time but we shouldn’t need to write out our goals etc. Other professionals are not required to jump through so many hoops to keep their designation. Why we have to jump through hoops is beyond me. This summer I am taking a course with ETFO for 3 days on Inqury. I have also gone to a STEM workshop. I should only be required to tell you what I did, when I did it and how many hours I spent on CPL. I have read numerous articles and learned thru discussions with colleagues. The list goes on.

I do agree to professional development. I do take part in workshops often throughout the school year but the CPL is a bit to much. We are over worked and there’s no time in the day when we are already so busy planning and bringing work home.

I, of all people love PD, and working at the EarlyON centres, we are constantly attending and facilitating workshops and others. This takes a lot of preparation from research to implementing. I also teach an ECE PT course at Durham College. I am glad we have our own mandate, but this adds ALOT more STRESS to my life in many ways. Cannot begin to tell you how much more work this CPL program is - and ongoing. I already work fifty, yes fifty, hours a week, cannot handle anymore. Please take this into deep consideration,

High membership fees and too much professional development with too little time to complete it.

The CPL that the college has us fill out makes me feel like I can't be trusted to make good decisions about my professional growth without being monitored and threatened with job loss for not participating. I am part of the SIP (School Improvement Plan) at my school every year which is a growth plan in personal and whole school development. I take whatever workshops I can to improve myself in my field. I have also given workshops at conferences. I have been in the field for 36 years. I belong to several on-line groups and am constantly reading blogs and searching for new ideas on the internet and in books. All of this on my own time. (Its a little bit of a pain in the ass to have to try and remember every time I read something or network with a group and write it down.) I now have to have 3 specific goals and achieve them in 2 years. I have been pursuing a knowledge of technology for at least the last seven and every time I think I get a good grasp something changes. So I guess that won't work. I have been developing a sense of community in the school, but every year the threat of a school move is real. If I get moved, I start all over, so I guess that's out too. I get that we have to be life long learners.....but holy! Even the teachers are not required to do all this. Why can we not just have a list of professional growth I stead of this huge booklet that frankly I dont have time for!

I feel that the College of ECE aren’t giving us what we need. We pay into some “College” and really get nothing out of it but extra work to be done on our own precious limited time. Appalling it really is.

I agree. I'm also in school part time and am totally stressed about both the financial aspect of membership fees as well as the work I'm expected to complete along with it.

Keeping professional is all in my own time as it is due to me being employed by someone who doesn’t recognize my credentials. Paperwork of this magnitude is too much. I don’t mind recording simply a date and main accomplishment.

I do so much professional development, goal setting and other required duties at the school board already. I do not have the time to do work outside of work as a mother and a university student, I am overloaded already.

The fee is too much based on our wages compared to the teachers. We pay the same as them and don’t make nearly as much. We already do Annual Learning Goals through the board, doing a 16 page CPL is way too much. When are we expected to do this, on our own time? More work for free?

ECE have no time to fill out these work books as they have no prep time as it is and we always spend nights and weekends constantly thinking and doing things for our class rooms as it is!!!! We are constantly seeking materials and learning things on our own and we get evaluated constantly by our employer and have to do PD hours out side of the school and daycares!!! This added work just adds to more frustration and time that we just dont have!!! And what do we get for the money anyways??? Just more work!!!!! No support!!

Would be nice to have the CPL reviewed, I feel like it could be configured differently so that members could better utilize it the way it's intended instead of just causing stress and members to feel overwhelmed. I can appreciate we have standards to meet and we do need a regulatory body, but currently the CECE is only raising prices and increasing requirements.

I think $160.00 is too much as well. I am fine with some CPL, but I did panic when you stated we could be audited. I realized that I do lots of it automatically but still worry that it's was not what you want. It seems that we are paying more and getting less. (No Certificate anymore and our CPR is not covered) More out of the little guys pocket! ;(

I think we should get a potion of the fee back and have work time to complete the CPL. It's not fair hat we have to do this on our own time
