We already have the much to deal with. Professional development is great when we are able to do it. But to put this amount of work and pressure on us is unfair. You may not think it’s a lot but really it’s very overwhelming to many of us. As ECEs I am very surprised that you are not being more considerate of my the many challenges/difficulties with face in both our personal/professional lives. I work 2 jobs from the time I leave home to when I return it’s 14 hours. I can go on and on like many of us could but I won’t. I would just ask that you reconsider this method and find one that’s better suited to meet the needs of all us...isn’t that what we do best.

There is not enough time in a day to complete this requirement and my weekends are for family and recouping from the week.

Most ECE's get paid minimum wage or less. They will benefit little from doing this. It will not raise the average pay of ECE's. Provide professional development that will allow those earning less to get better paying ECE jobs.

It is also super hard for people starting a new job who don’t get time off as they have a probationary period (mine is 6 months and I won’t be done it until January when I need to have all these hours done by) and I’m also in continuing education online so it is very hard to find the time.

If we had planning time st school and was able to do this CPL & be nice for a pay increase. I understand we’re you are coming from but when we work for a school board we do so many workshop plus do on our own where do we stop at..if you wanted Proof on workshop then yes send that in but NOT all of this paperwork on top of what we do in a day already.. less stress happy for us to do what we love to do with the children

General parents are still thinking we are glorified nanny! What have the College of ECE have done so far for other people to recognize what ECE is and do in a child care center? Instead of taking our money and keep asking/ expecting us to upgrade ourselves. CECE should also increase the publicity.. Educate the public about ECE! You know how many parents actually look down on us and be rude to us?

We should be given professional time off to complete this. I shouldn't have to give up more of my personal time to complete this. Also, with the school board I do professional learning workshops all the time. I know we need to advocate for our profession to be taken seriously. Increasing the fee and adding more to the workload is not the way to go. Other professions licensing fees are not this high.

Employers should be responsible for providing professional development opportunities, during paid work hours and time. Yes, we should strive for continued education, goal setting and learning, but this should not become an additional burden.

Membership fees rising? For what? This is ridiculous. Everything about this is ridiculous. The job is demanding enough let alone all the extra work demanded by the college. Enough is enough.

I already do an annual learning plan with goal attached for the school board I work for. I attend multiple professional learning work shops both with my employer as well as personally. I do not need to double up on my already intense workload.

I agree CPL is just a tangled paperwork and does not help or stimulate professional development.

I agree, the CPL does NOT encourage professional development. It actually discourages by treating us like children who need to be policed, with absolutely no trust in our "professional judgement". If the College is expecting professional development from us, the LEAST they could do is provide a list of such opportunities, if not offer workshops and seminars itself. Not only that, the membership fee is now going up to $160?! Most ECEs are, unfortunately, not in a position to just throw $160 away.

I am a consistent partake of professional development, but this is excessive considering our rate of pay and job requirements.

We pay $150 a year for what... now they're adding homework for us to do.

Yes should be revisited.

I agree that we pay way too much and they expect a lot more. Our teaching partners don’t pay as much and are not required to do any extra

My Centre is located in Belleville Ontario and we do not have enough relief staff to cover everyone to attend EVERY professional development course, making it very hard to meet the requirements already laid out, adding more stress to that is pathetic, plus we already pay 150$ yearly when we make close to nothing, close to a mininmum paying job, close to what people are making who didn’t go to school for two years who don’t have student loans being owed. I am very against this.
