Attending workshops and implementing what I've learned helps me to grow in the field far more than loads of paperwork. I think the CPL is too much work and stress. You will not allow me to work anymore if I do not do all of this paperwork is absurd. Please hear our voice.

All that RECE's should be doing for CPL is to keep a folder of the dates with certificates of attendance/participation when given of the PD sessions, webinars, videos, etc of the things we have done to keep current and improve ourselves. No additional personal time should be needed to complete anything else. All the PD that we do is already done on personal time. The college should be more concerned by advocating for better wages and recognition for its members.

This is a lot of stress on you're average ECE. We have families to raise, and other jobs. What is being expected of us is UNREALISTIC . The rate of ECE burnout is growing, maybe the focus should be more on how to avoid this? I have actually made the decision to WALK AWAY from childcare after 15 plus years because I can no longer handle the stress and demands. Sad that I am forced to quit doing something I once loved.

I am in a school setting. I attend numerous PD sessions throughout the year , either ones that were chosen for me or ones that I was interested in an attended on my own time. I unlike the classroom teacher do not get planning time to prep activities etc so unfortunately most of the time I’m doing this at home on my own time. Our fees are more than the classroom teachers and we get no perks of being a member. Many of us have families and have responsibilities after our day is done at work. I have NO free time to be watching countless videos and assessing my strengths etc as this is what I do every year at school before the year starts. Please reconsider taking away all this added stress. For our fees paid I think a laminated card like the teachers have would be appropriate.... upon their renewal they receive a year stick to place on the card. We are all stressed, overworked, and underpaid. Thank you

All for furthering my education with going to workshops but the demands are far too much from the college year after year. We get nothing in return for our membership but loads and loads of paperwork all for what??? We don't do it we loose our jobs. Not fair, we work hard enough with all the added requirements from the ministry already.

I am all for keeping up with new ideas, bettering my education, collaborating with others. But, when you earn a salary like ours, and you are expected to keep up your registration, it makes it difficult to attend workshops. The interesting workshops are either out of town where a hotel is involved or a all day workshop where you are either working or going to your second job. Workshops are expensive!!! I teach in a school setting and then attend all workshops with the classroom teacher. During Classroom time. I feel this should be enough. We take notes for ourselves thst may or not may be useful. The classroom teacher at times ONLY gets invited to attend the really interesting workshops. This is where I disagree.. So in conclusion, rethink about what you are asking of us. Remember, the majority of Early childhood Educators hold second jobs to support their families. This CPL is becoming everyone’s worse nightmare. !!!

I would love to have less paper work on top of what we already have to do at work every day! We prove that we are professionals who are continuously learning and growing at work every single day and by attending work shops! We are marked by the ministry of education, and that alone should prove that we are doing what we are supposed to be doing. I am against all of this extra work we are being forced to do, as well as the cost we have to pay to be able to go work in my career. I would also love to receive RECE membership cards again!! We are paying all of this money and don’t even receive a plastic card for recognition. In fact, we are paying all of this money and the college is backed up on renewing our memerbships. Myself and my co workers have been threatened to lose their RECE, have received false emails saying that our payment method didn’t go through (which it did) and have had to call and email CONTINUOUSLY to make sure we were still registered all because the College is too backed up! We are paying to be let down, and we are paying to over work ourselves with all of this paperwork we are forced to complete. Please think it over and put yourselves in our position.

I am not against going to workshops and increasing my knowledge. It just seems like a lot of paperwork.

Professional development is essential for all professionals especially with the many changes happening in childcare. I strongly feel the format of the CPL needs to be changed, the expectations and work load is too much for the majority of us. I hope our collective voices can be heard and positive changes can occur.

We pay $150.00 each year. I have seen no improvements just the money out of my bank account. Also, non members who get directors approval or have there OCT seem to be getting our grants. Totally agree that it's important to continue to learn and grow. But at the same time...our own family time is important as well.

Tired of the college giving us more to do with no improvements from them that directly benefits the educators. I’m all for professional learning. I personally love taking workshops and learning more it’s not that. It’s the fact that we’re expected to do this on our own personal time with no additional pay for it. Our demands and responsibilities have become greater and greater while our pay doesn’t reflect this. We are making very little over minimum wage but have so many responsibilities it hardly seems fair. We are here raising the future! Caring for, nurturing, and educating young minds at their most critical point. It’s a big job that comes with lots of responsibilities and stress to go with it. Hence such a high burnout rate. There is nothing ever done to improve things for the educator. Instead the college comes up with the CPL to give us even more work to complete in a year on top of the already large workload of an Educator. It’s not the professional development that’s the issue it’s the fact we have to do so much work now surrounding it. It’s not making things any easier for educators but instead just adding more and more every year. All I’m asking is what is next? If the responsibilities keep getting greater with no improvement for educators I know exactly what’s next. Even higher burnout rates and less educators in the field. The government’s plan is to create more childcare spaces but that isn’t possible if there isn’t educators to support this. There is a huge disconnect between the college’s expectations and reality. The college just adds more and more burden on the educator. It’s sad because the college is supposed to support and represent us and they are failing to do so in a way that actually reflects the needs of its members.

I recieve a lot of professional learning and devlopment workshops from my work because the school boards offer it. It should be imposed that continious learning be offered by jobs and to be done during work hours. I am raising my children during my off hours, I don't have time to be doing double the continious learning while I am at home and supposed to be spending time with my child.

As most of the other commenters have stated, while I'm grateful for a regulatory body for our field, the expectations that we are to do additional unpaid work after spending years in post secondary education, spending an obscene amount of money on tuition, and to maintain our status as ECE's we are expected to continue paying our time and money on top of working a barely livable wage? It seems we're getting duped here. There is certainly now incentive for anyone to enter this field. It's expensive, exhausting and those of us on the front lines are getting tired of paying for the colleges expenses and recieving only the threat of that very expensive piece of paper- worthless. It's ironic given that 'best practice' has us positively reinforcing children to motivate their learning, not taking punitive action when our little people are tired, and hungry.

Husband signing on behalf of my already hard working wife that doesn't need this extra work load to endure on top of her busy underpaid work day. Let's hope this passes

Teachers pay $150, get a membership card, don't have to do PD to keep membership and make way more $ than any of us...we pay $160, don't get a membership card and have to do PD to keep membership.
