We are not in a field of work that pays well so it is unfair to up the fee we must pay to practice in our field. Also, as much as we agree about going to workshops, we should not have to write reports and time consuming documentations on them without being paid for our time that is limited with family and extracurricular activities that keep us personally and mentally healthy for a physically and mentally stressful job. These extra demands are taking the joy away from our job. People don't just live to work. We work to make a living and need time for our own families too.

The CPL is ridiculous. We are in a career that has to pay for a membership (which most careers don’t have to do that) and on top of that we work full days with planning and marking when we go home. Adding extra work on top of that is stressful and not useful to many of the members. I personally am not working in the field because I am teaching but I would like to keep my membership without having to do extra work when I am not even working in the field! I was okay with playing the membership to keep my status, but now I’m thinking of dropping it all together.

Too complicated and lengthy for the members who are already overworked, unappreciated and underpaid. Rethink or remove the CPL.

I couldn’t agree more with this petition. This field of work already takes up so much of our personal time and now the CPL just adds to it. I wish that they would just trust us enough as professional to know that we know how to do our job.

Yup. We already have enough to worry about at work with keeping track of everything. And at home with responsibilities, families, plans, appointments, mental health and just life itself. We do not need to worry and stress over doing the program every year. We know we have to do PD. We are adults. We do not need someone continuously telling us what we have to do for it. It’s a waste of time.

This whole cpl thing and this college does nothing for us professionally and it’s there to illicit fear and punishment. In our pay grade we don’t need this type of harrassment

Building relationships with the children in our care is the foremost responsibility of an ECE. After 25 years in the field (6 of them in Europe), I am disappointed that the focus here is shifting to the theoretical versus getting down on the floor and really engaging with the children. It's hard to stay present in the moment when you are expected to continually document everything. Is it any wonder that stress/mental health issues are on the rise?

I’m not opposed to any form of educational workshops. In fact I welcome them but CPL training is so much more! As a support staff I am so stressed about have to meet all the ongoing requirements for CPL training. Thank you for starting this petition.

It’s not fair that we have to pay to use a title that we payed to go to school to have... and then have all this added work thrown on us that we aren’t compensated for when we don’t get respectable wages to begin with!

I have been teaching as an ECE for over 18 years. Unfortunately I have noticed there is less time to play with children these days compared to when I started. All thanks to paperwork. Please don't add to it with CPL.

I wonder if the CPL format can be changed to make it more work/life balance friendly. Maybe a section a year or a much more discussion based format so that we, as early childhood educators registered with the college can share our struggles, strengths, successes and professional development with each other and not just the auditors of the CPL? Maybe a forum or D2L space? With requirements to post or discussion so many times a year to facilitate shared growth and professional learning? Thank you.

Doing more paper work does not a better R.E.C.E. make ….let me use my down time to create and use the info I receive while attending ( outside of my work day, and without pay) workshops....implementing and sharing ideas with front line workers is by far more beneficial...been in the field for over thirty years and cannot see how doing more paperwork could possibly improve my work ethics...please hear the voices of the front line people....it took the college over three months to do my renewal this year...and they sent me a letter saying they would suspend my license...computer generated of coarse....enough is enough already

My personal life is more important than CPL

I enjoy PD and ongoing learning but I keep my own portfolio, this is definitely an added stress that is unnecessary.

I Enjoy going to workshops and sharing new ideas with the children, But after a long day at work, my family duties, school and sporting events and helping my children with their with school work at home, life is busy enough without having more paperwork to do in the spare time that is hard to come by.

110% agree with this CPL being a complete added stress to our lives, taking away what little time we have left in our days. We work on the frontlines with little to no support from superiors, we have no prep, we pay the crazy high yearly fee, we work long hours, thanks for the added stress and burnout CECE.
