Get rid of mandatory expectations for working professionals. Or provide paid time to complete these tasks.

I am fine with the professional learning as we have to keep up with educational needs but this CPL is taking too much time away from our family time.

PLEASE HEAR MY VOICE! I am signing this petition as a professional approaching retirement. I have dedicated 35 years to educating. I was hoping my homestretch would be one of appreciation and respect for my passion of children, teamwork, and ongoing education. Instead I am forced to renew my membership online on a website that is poorly designed to be user-friendly. ( perhaps some funding from past years would be well spent in this area.) After reviewing a fiscal year report on the CECE budget, I begin to understand the body of the college's frustration. To add an increase to our yearly fee only adds fuel to the fire. I am employed within a school board. Our class sizes of 30+ in sometimes poorly heated,non-airconditioned cramped rooms, are difficult to hear and work in often making documentation practically impossible. The sheer noise levels are often deafening. I point these things out to offer a glimpse into a day of the average Early Childhood Educator. This doesn't speak to the fact that we have absolutely NO say as to whom we are partnered with. Add to this the many other professionals that are often in this already tight space. Stress is high. The CPL is adding more. Please heed our words as the children are the ones who lose in the end.

I work out of the country as there was no openings near where I leaved and the pay would not cover medical coverage for diabetics. The country I work in is very difficult to communicate with and from and no youtube which these webinars are shown... so yes this CPL has cause a lot of stress. I only have a small window of time to complete these things before I return to work from a brief holiday. Professional development is a concern and rightly so but could there be simpler ways showing them that we are complying?

I agree! We have to much work. Not enough money to pay us. We don't have the time to do more paperwork. That is not fair. Where is our support? CPL is not our support, it more work.

No time to do extra work

This is not fair, with the amount of work we have to do already in the field, we don't need more on top of this.

I am not against perfection all development, I think workshops, courses and reading new material to be very beneficial; however the added paper work is something I do not have time for as the majority of my programming is done in my free time, I work long days and am a parent...when am I to find more time to do this paper work?

With such a shortage of RECE's in the field would the College actually withdraw the registration from someone if they haven't completed their CPL? I am all for professional development and registration with a professional body. But I would prefer the College to do professional development webinars on issues that are facing front-line workers such as behaviour management. There are too many RECE's who are ill prepared for the workforce. The college of eces should be helping staff develop thier skills. I would also like to see the College advocate more. With Childcare being huge election issue within the past few election cycles, I would have preferred the College of eces to be more vocal in our needs as a professional body.

I agree. No time to complete this. Waste of time and unnecessary

We are paying more for something that isn’t benefiting us and giving us more work. We already use our personal time to plan, our own money for resources and it’s taking time away from my own children

This field is highly stressful with lots of responsibility. And teachers and other professionals do not pay as much for a membership that does nothing for its members. Little pay more stress!!!

I am having difficulties even attempting to do CPL with working full-time, all the extra time for PD through my employer and family life (or lack thereof.) I am not a machine. We need time to relax with how stressful life is. I can't keep up with the expectations of this career with this added requirement. It is stressful enough being underpaid and working extra hours (Sometimes unpaid.) I struggle with paying my regular bills and now I have to worry, every year, to pay for this and now the fee is going up? It is tough. You may not think that $150 is much but for most families, it can mean so much.

I'm all for PD. But as a self employed home care provider, finding time to work on the CPL, balance my daycare and my family, is extremely tough.

I couldn’t agree more with the problems already mentioned. The CPL is far too time consuming. No other profession which requires a registration requires its member to do this much extra work on top of their already time consuming job. And the cost of our membership is ridiculous!

I am all for doing Personal Development but how I am suppose to do all of these requirements when I work full time (sometimes linger hours) and raise a young family. I don’t have enough hours in a day as it is and now I’m expected to do this as well? Please reconsider your position in the amount of Personal Development being done. We need support not more added to our stressors in our lives.
