Revisit the requirements of the CPL program

I think CPL is asking to much from RECEs. We dont have enough time as it is and we are WAY under paid. Also it is only ontario that has to do CPL. How about making us go to workshops once or twice a year.

This causes so much extra anxiety for ECE's across the board, whether it's daycare or school board settings. We are not given extra time or money to accomplish this.

I value my PD! I keep up with my PD! I work full time as an ECE (14 yes I’m the field), have three kids of my own and I am getting my degree part time. CPL is an added stress in my life! I understand why the CPL project was launched, but I feel there are better mean for our funds. Help us.. don’t hinder us!

I agree. I do my own PD. This job doesn’t pay enough and I work multiple jobs. I do not have extra time to put in to the CPL. It has become time consuming. I am coming into work early some days just to get half an hour in once and a while. Working for the school board they provide PD sessions which should be considered.

CPL is a waste of time.

We are expected to do way too much extra work when it is completely unnecessary. I agree with continuing to grow and learn new things but the CPL is not the way. Have mandatory PD hours per year or something but all of this paper work that needs to be done is ridiculous.

I too believe we are being expected to do too much on top of what we already do. I think we should just have to attend a set number of workshops instead of filling out a confusing workbook. We became RECEs to teach and learn with the children we teach so please leave the work books back in college classes. Our work lives are already so busy and demanding, to find the time to fill out a booklet that is extra work is exhausteing when we already have to use home time to plan for our daily programs. Please hear our thoughts and change the guidelines.

I wish I was given time to write and do pd during working time.

As professionals RECE's we are constantly learning. Having a mandatory cpl makes it confusing. I'm good at making goals yearly for myself. However keeping track is overwhelming and time consuming.

I love doing professional development ie: searching Pinterest for ideas, free workshops when I am able to, discussing ideas with other RECE’s... however I DO NOT have time for all of the additional work that is expected of me from the college. I am a professional and I am highly involved in my career and success of my students. I do not feel like I should have to be “on edge” wondering if I will be audited for professional learning. We are underpaid, unappreciated and overworked as it is. The college is adding to our stress load. Trust your RECE’s as professionals and do not add to the stress!

CPL requires way to much work for Ece’s. I believe in professional development.

Should be just required to take extra learning courses that’s it, not this confusing CPL they have now.

I would rather see RECE made to attend workshop to better them self and in work place then this CPL. I’m in the classroom all day then when I’m done I’m not really done I have next day / week to plan and make activities. We don’t get time at work so it’s on my own time. I have children to run around and a family to take care of. You are asking us to do this at our own time and not get paid for it but have to pay more.

I agree with everything that is said! There is not enough time in the day! Busy family life, long work hours! It’s becoming less enjoyable

I think our job is already one of the most stressful. Adding more pressure will only cause us to do our job less better.

We need a college that better supports us!

I agree 100%. Professional development expectations should be similar to other professions-for example a certain amount of hours per year of PD. It’s way too much extra work on already extremely busy professionals. This needs to be re-evaluated.

Burnout in our field is too real. I'm an FDK RECE, and I get less then 1/2 of what my teaching partners get in wages, with similar workload. We have two choices to avoid burnout, leaving the field and do something else, or give up on it and put in your time doing the absolute minimal required. This only makes it more stressful.

I think it is just a money grabber
