I pay into it. I work in the field. Why do I need to prove anything else? The CPL is completely unnecessary

PD is very important but we don’t get paid enough in this field to be required to complete this process. All it is is extra time and extra stress in an already stressful profession.

I spoke with my teaching partner about the CPL and she was quite perplexed that this is an expectation of us! She told me that the College of Teachers does NOT require this from them. And this woman makes 50,000 dollars more than I make each year! It is very disheartening!

I'm for professional development but not the extra stress that the CPL puts on us. We don't need a babysitter to make us do this. We are professionals!

The CPL program only adds more stress and work to our daily work lives. I work in kindergarten and my teaching partners fees are lower by $10 and they do not ever have to submit anything to the governing body. The CECE does not protect us as educators or workers, it only protects the public from us. I hope they understand where most of ECEs are coming from. I hope that this petition not only goes to the CECE but to the Ontario government as well as the CPL program is a part of legislation.

Please revisit the whole of CPL and help your fellow ECE’s for: professionalism rights, fair wages, fair hours and fair time for professional development. Ie not after a full day of work for a 3 hour seminar.

The College of ECE and everything about it is a complete joke, I’m leaving this field as soon as I can

Definitely enjoy professional learning, but this CPL process adds more stress, and is very confusing!

ECEs are underpaid and have to deal with really stressful work environment. Adding CLP in form like is now is not supporting our well being as well as professional development. We have enough on out plates. We should not be made to spend time and money outside our work hours to complete CLP.

I feel strongly that bettering yourself in the field by taking new learning is extremely important. However I do not agree with how the college is mandating that we spend hours doing the CPL and that we can be audited at anytime. I feel that the college could be spending their time more wisely by providing us with extra learning opportunities online that are free of charge. I feel that the money we are paying could be used to build up some online resources we could use in the field. I am very disappointed with how the college is treating their collegues and wonder how they can legally mandate these expectations on us?

We didn't have the opportunity to vote on this CPL...it never would have been agreed on. No to CPL . I have been in this field for 25 years. I know how to do CPL when I need it. I do NOT Need some bully sitting in a cushy job in TO threatening to take my RECE title away if I don't do it the way THEY have decided I should!!

I find this CPL work extremely stressful on my mental health. Life is already extremely stressful and busy and this is just one more added stress that I feel is unnecessary. It takes time away from my children and home life and there isn't much time to spend with my children and home life as is. As a person that works 2 jobs, one is with a school board so Iam constantly bringing work home to prepare activities for the children, I have 2 children at home as well, I run a household and already struggle with mental issues because my life is so hectic. This CPL adds to my stress level highly because I already have no time in my life as is to take care of ME!! As an ECE in a school board we are constantly having to go to workshops and take classes to better ourselves and skills in the workplace and we also have to get together with collegues to share ideas and information have information sessions to go to. I have been an ECE for 22 years and feel that Iam already and always trying to find ways to improve myself in the field to be the best ECE that I can be....I dont feel that recording all of this on paper is useful or helpful at all, like I said it just has added more stress on me and takes time away from my family and myself. I already have no time in my life to take care of me and my well being, that time I have to spend on CPL I could be spending on focusing on my mental health more. Instead its taking more time away from my life, when time is already a stressful issue in my life.

The statements in this petition are true. It’s fair to continue our learning and attend workshops, webinars, and other sources of continuous learning but I just find the CPL repetitive and to be honest stressful, knowing you can be audited at any time and have your membership revoked is really not fair. There are not enough hours in the day between work, family, other obligations to get things done, let alone stress about having to complete our CPL or else?? Hopefully, something can be done about this.

The CPL expectations are UNREALISTIC. I am working two jobs, 60+ hours a week - how am I supposed to complete 20 pages of CPL as well? Work/ life balance is already zero for ECE's. Please simplify the CPL- ask for one page of goals, one or two workshops with certificate, plus a half page reflection. Simple and easy. ECE's are all confused with what to do, and overwhelmed with the amount of pages and confusing questions. They feel they are doing it wrong. They need CLEAR EXPECTATIONS.
