Having to pay $160 for some is already a challenge, and now having to complete the CPL is just another blow we have to take. Most of us work full days, have families of our own, work second jobs and get to prep times. Finding time to work on the CPL is very, very difficult

CPL and the fee should be banned. Yes, professional development is important for all ECE’s but should not made mandatory with us having to prove ourselves! This makes me feel undermined as a professional and this was not a job “requirement” when I started working 20 years ago. Someone came along and made this ridiculous program and expects Ontario’s underpaid ECE’s pay the price. Literally.

Im totally burnt out and stressed with all this added paperwork i need to go just to keep my RECE. Raising a young family of 4 children (8 6 2 and 1) and working with children and getting unfair wages for what we do.

In agreement with everything written. Feeling extremely stressed on a daily bases. And continue to feel a lot of anxiety thinking and trying to find time to complete the cpl

I agree that the annual registration fee is very high. The demand for completion of CPL adds to an already stressful situation with job workload... and I honestly do not see what the College is doing for us...

Frustrating to have to pay the college so that we can use the title ECE ( even though we went to school and received the diploma) They provide no services to us , yet we are expected to prove ourselves to them. It’s absolutely absurd. We make pathetic wages, have no planning time and have to do this CPL on our own time -regardless of our personal and familial demands.

Why should we pay to not be protected by our registration and have to constantly take up our personal time to keep up for a career we are paying to be in enhance the RECE

I agree that we have to put so much work into something that offers us nothing, when we already receive so little for all the hard work we already do. Pd is important but this level is work is beyond what we should be doing. No thought of well-being but we are expected to practice it.

No one has time to do CPL. I have worked for the school board for the last 8 years and we haven’t had PD offered for at least 3 years because of a lack of supply staff available.

I don’t agree with having to pay the college an annual fee of $160 annually as ECE’s we don’t make that much and this fee is extremely unreasonable for our profession. Teachers who get paid a lot more pay a lot less for their annual fee. Does this make sense? And also teachers who profession has more qualifications do less then what we as ECEs are required to do- also something that makes no sense. and then having to submit assignments? I agree with PD and as I work at the school board I receive PD on PD days. I think it should be a requirement to attend two PDs a year and keep the evidence. This non sense of having to record and document our learning makes me feel like a child back in school. And to be frank I do not have the time that requires to do homework. I have a full time job, 3 children, elderly parents who need care and a husband. The very little time I have for myself is being taken away to document for my profession that I spend 40 hours a week on. Please reconsider the CPL. It should not take away my mental health.

All you need to do is offer Ece’s workshops and professional learning and we would gladly take the opportunities. Most of us are always looking to improve ourselves and acquire new knowledge to help our children, which is why we work with children in the first place! This CPL nonsense is just added stress that we are forced to pay for. What other profession has to pay for the privilege of using their well earned qualifications, being audited and having to do extra work on our own time?

Its a joke to have to save this "professional development" for years.. Im at the age they can take my dam R. Buzz words and fluff. Oh and the college staff, I'm sure, make twice than any RECE on the floor. Thats why the rate is going up!

Total waste of my time! As a professional I feel that I shouldn’t have to prove my growth as an ECE through piles of paperwork. The yearly fee is more than some individuals who work in the trades and they are making much more than we are.
