The CPL is added stress that nobody needs. we are all adults that can learn at our own rate. Teachers are not even required to do this.

It's just too much for RECE's. We talk about burnout in the field yet the college does not take this into consideration and creates more undue stress on their members. OCT does not require this much work for teachers and they often get paid significantly more than RECE's. The college has more important work to focus on.

No more membership fees and no more Cpl

Fully agree that our low income does not warrant a $160/year fee to be a member of the college. As well as the added work to the CPL.

With a full time job I don’t have extra time to work on CPL.

I love learning new styles of teaching and ideas to use in a play base environment, but with how busy life can be I don’t think it is fair for the college to threaten our membership when we have already worked hard to achieve it! The wait times to renew is also concerning, especially when starting a new job. I think everyone should be responsible to keep up to date with PD and that your workplace can support you in your growth.

We don’t have time in our current jobs to do all we need to fulfill its requirements and they are demanding more of us.

I'm okay with the fee to keep my status but I often study and do extra learning on my own out of enjoyment, however this makes it less enjoyable and adds extra stress to an already stressful field.

Hi there, I love doing the workshops and I strongly believe in life long learning especially when it comes to child development. I think it’s extremely important to stay current on the best practices , to support inclusion and so forth. However, I think that the way that the college is addressing registered early childhood educators is not very supportive. Threatening to suspend the license is a little bit extreme considering how confusing the whole process can be for some of us. I mean, it gets easier later on as you go through it, but it’s extremely time consuming. Therefore, I don’t think that removing the CPL is exactly necessary, but maybe giving us more time to complete it and giving us pay for this would be great. We are expected to meet very high expectations as professionals, yet many of us are not being paid as professionals and we are losing valuable time to do chores, see our families and have our own time for our “well being”. Allowing educators to have time for themselves to breathe and work themselves even outside of our profession is also helpful towards the field. Spending time with our families makes us happy and more relaxed. That makes us better educators in the classroom as well. If we are always stressed out doing paper work in the classroom and then for the CPL and then not seeing family , being paid poorly, spending all our time only on work it creates a serious burn out among many RECEs. Then, if we decide to take time off from work to complete this - we will lose money. We are already not paid enough. Many of the RECEs are already over worked and the prices in the stores keep going up , but not the pay. Please think about what you are asking of us and ask yourselves if it is really necessary or fair considering it’s one more thing we must cram into our overly busy lives? We deal with things everyday in the classroom already and do workshops. I think reflections are important, but we shouldn’t need to hand it in. Many of u

I agree that we should all have to

Absolutely ridiculous that we have to do this. We all have families, children and lives outside of school. We already graduated from school. We have a very busy stressful job every day. The CPL is absolutely unnecessary. I'm all for learning but this is ridiculous.

I’m sure all this money we have been paying towards this useless college could conquer some other useful funding for daycare/staff/children. This has been a money grabber from the beginning. A circle that never ends for us ECE’s continually needing to renew for what. This hasn’t benefited us as hard working individuals who live our jobs and the children we are involved with each and everyday. Who are they to tell us who we are?!

I don’t mind paying the fee or even taken workshops, webinars. My problem is that I have to spend the time setting goals for myself, that may not be need in year two with the group I have. Have to do the paperwork to show how I have implemented my goals. I would rather you put in the time asking us to do 2-3 workshop or webinar a year, that would be interesting to yourself or to the group of children that I am working with now.

I'm all for professional learning, but perhaps we could simply list the professional learning we have undertaken (with proof) and a short description of our learning. Also, could our learning and all post-secondary education be recorded under our names in the public register, so the people are aware of our commitment to PL.

This needs to be revisited this is an extremely hard process to follow I feel lost all the time and I don’t feel motivated. Makes me not want to renew every year, you are making this process too much work for ECEs I don’t know any other profession that is required to do this much work in order to be registered

Let’s revisit these requirements and make this less stressful and more positive. Right now there is way too much work for people to do.
