I agree, CPL is adding stress to ourselves pressuring us to do what they expect. Low salary scale, long waiting to be a member and threatening for evaluation and losing the membership. Furthermore, paying yearly membership not providing us an ID even just made of paper. I don’t know what this organization giving to us.

I am a divorced, single Mom who, after working 20 years as an ECE, does not make enough money to pay for my Bill's, rent and food. I will be forced to take an additional part time job and now have to live in fear of being suspended without pay if my credentials are not up to par? This job is emotionally taxing, physically and mentally draining but I love what I do and I'm good at it. What I do us important. What all ECE's do is important but we are underpaid, undervalued and unrecognized. We are professionals but not treated as such. The College of ECE has let us down and it's time that they do something about it. Its time they take a stand and stand up for us.

Something has to change. I am a divorced, single Mom who doesn't make enough on my RECE salary to cover my bill's, rent and food and may have no other choice but to get an additional part time job to survive. Now I am forced to somehow find time and money to make sure my ECE credentials are adequate or I'm suspended? We make so little and now have to live in fear of no pay? What about time for my child? My family? For me? I have been an ECE at the same center with wonderful management, staff and children for 20 years and my salary is only marginally higher from when I first started. This job is difficult and challenging, emotionally taxing, physically and mentally draining, behaviours and special needs are an every day norm. But I'm good at what I do. I love what I do. What we ECE's do is important - these little souls are important. We are professionals but are not recognized as such. It's time for the College of ECE to take a stand and stand up for us. Instead of making our lives more difficult it's time that the College helps us and becomes our voice. Something has to change and giving more work, being undervalued, under paid and unrecognized will never be the answer. The College of ECE is and has let us all down. It's time that they do something about it.

With 3 young children and trying to work full time, the cpl does add a lot of additional stress. I think even stating one goal for the year, how to achieve it, is sufficient enough

My job as an ECE is long and stressful enough. I shouldn’t have to spend my own time having to do paperwork for the college that I pay into.

When I first registered with the College, I was continuing my education so I didn't get much time to work on my CPL due to the amount of assignments and I even had to write a thesis for my final year. On top of that, I was only supplying as an RECE. Don't get me wrong, I do love professional development but the CPL is stressful. I don't have time to record everything down that I'm doing for professional development and then lose my membership if I don't have anything to show to the College. Just because it's not on paper, doesn't mean I'm not doing anything. We're already underpaid and our jobs are challenging. When I come home from working with children, I just want to relax and spend time with my loved ones. The last thing on my mind is to fill out a portfolio. The company I work for provides workshops and during staff meetings we write reflections about our practice too and connect it with How Does Learning Happen. I'm sure a lot of other daycare companies provide the same or at least something similar. It shouldn't be the College's business at all!

Teachers whom all earn 3 times more than ECEs and also belong to a professional college do not pay as much in renewal fees nor are expected to complete so much paperwork . It should be enough that a record of professional development completed is listed and sent with no other requirements .

As a former ECE and now Teacher comparing both professional colleges, I think the CPL and the entire CECE is a complete disservice to the profession. The threatening nature of their phone calls and lack of customer service is appalling. I paid my fee early and they took my money twice off my credit card then fined me for a late fee because the person responsible for my paperwork didn’t file it. A complete mess. I was yelled at on the phone and told I need to read deadlines and when proven that it was their error they offered no apology. For the amount ECE’s pay it’s actually quite ridiculous how little they get from the college. Several of my colleagues left the profession to pursue higher education or other jobs within the field. Thank you for this petition I’m so glad someone said it.

Many of us have to have a second job to live comfortably as ECE wages are so low. When do we have all of this extra time to complete CPL?

I have always strived to develop my skills and expand my knowledge. I work full time in a preschool program and I’m an online BA Child Studies student. My programming time at work has been cut. I can’t afford to get low grades in university so I my studying on my lunch breaks and off work hours. I haven’t had the time to work on my CPL as much as I like too when making time to plan activities off work hours and completing my studies all the while trying to find time for family. I am signing this petition because I agree with the many other RECEs who are feeling overwhelmed like myself in meeting the expectations of the college.

It is getting really tough in the field. I love working with children and I also enjoy going for professional development courses. As I am trying my best to give my 100% in my career, go to university to get more education, and do as much as professional development, I have really come to a burnout this year. I hate to see other educators feeling this way as we know a LOT of us are going through the burnout phase. We already have so much amazing RECEs leaving the field because of this!! Quality of Education is going down and we are just taken for granted.

We pay for college, then we pay every year but now we could loose it all for CPL
