I dont agree with cpl.we are wasting our quality time doing written work and attending webinars. College should understand this.

I am outraged at the fee we have to pay when we make so little. It is robbery. Professional development should happen, it should be documented but the amount of work we have to put into the CPL is beyond ridiculous. If you want us to do this work on our own time perhaps fight for our wages to go up or get us paid planning time to do it. ECEs make less than EA's in my board. This job is becoming a major headache to my family and personal time.

I agree. With having a young family, long work days without a lot of free time At work. I don’t have much time to keep with it all. I am not even directly working in the field, but still need to complete this to keep my membership. I’m paying a lot for this.

RECEs are already underpaid and overworked. With all of the stresses of our day to day jobs why is the college adding more hurdles instead of more supports? The CPL takes a lot of time to complete. And I'm sure it costs a lot of money to develop and audit.

We are one of the most under valued professions . We need our college to stand behind us and work towards promote the vaulable role we play in the early years in children. The added stress the CPL puts on it’s members is disheartening. Our own college should trust that we has professionals can guide our own development where we see fit .

We are committed professionals who should be viewed as competent and capable. Please trust that we are continually learning and developing our practice without having to prove ourselves again and again. We are already overworked and burn out has been a serious problem within this field, please stop adding to our workload.

I agree with professional development, but having to be audited makes me feel like I’m in high school. I don’t see school teachers having to even do a CPL and have there organization threatening to take away there license. I also don’t agree that we make such low wages and then pay to a high membership fee and for classes/courses for our CPL

I’m not against professional development, but I am a mom, supervisor/ ECE and work 50 hours a week. I have such little time with my daughter as it is, this takes more time away.

I dont mind paying a fee for the college but being audited is rediculous!! It makes you feel that you are not trusted!

As an ECE on their 3rd maternity leave since being a member of the college it is difficult to maintain goals in an ever changing environment. Add to this the fact that I have a chronic illness which is unpredictable (relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis) and a family to care for and the obstacles in completing the CPL seem close to insurmountable.

I agree so much with this petition! We have such busy jobs and it requires our whole heart. We absolutely should not be required to jump through these hoops to keep a membership to a college that does nothing for us

I understand the need for continuous learning, but the CPL is crazy. We pay enough in fees to be apart of the CECE. We do not get paid enough in our profession to be paying for professional development courses and doing paperwork in our free time on top of that. We simply do not have the time. Most of us work 2 jobs to afford a life. I signed up to be an ece fully aware of the salary, but I continued because of my love for it. We teach children they are capable and competent, the college needs to treat us the same and trust that we chose this profession for a reason, and we are capable and competent in our career. We can do and will do and have been doing professional learning way before the CPL became mandatory.

The purpose of the CECE was to increase our professional standing in the community. Clearly this isn't working when Ontario's own Minister of Education doesn't see us as professionals! All the CECE and it's unrealistic requirements is doing is driving people to the point of exhaustion and burn out putting this sector is an even bigger HR crunch than we are already in!

Getting this done is near impossible with my work load and home life. I’m all for professional learning but this is taking even time and resources away from my young family.

I completely agree, I feel a personal portfolio, with resume, environment ideas from classrooms, professional development (staff meetings, workshops) etc. So a book, binder that stores this. Requirement of an amount added each year to this book. And maybe end of the year, reflection page of goals, what was learnt etc. This right now what’s in place is too much for the little time we have, we’ve had workshops talking about self care, and not getting burnt out as an ECE, this is not helping, working til possibility of 5:30-6:00, picking up my boys from childcare, getting home, cooking supper, cleaning, getting them ready for bed and then having to use time on weekends which is also family time, I don’t agree with. That is my vent about it and a more practical solution. Thanks
