Our field has low pay and very little extra time to sit down and do extra paperwork. I can’t afford higher rates. If they need proof of professional development most centres require their staff to keep a record of professional development, why don’t we just send in those forms?
We don’t need “homework”, we need support.

I’m fairly new to the world of ECE and yet it’s such a huge weight my shoulders. I paid for my college diploma and I shouldn’t have it taken away by some stupid college who doesn’t do anything in return for our benefit as a teacher. Let this be a step in a new direction, or else this young generation of children won’t have great childcare.

If we are concerned frontline workers why are we not vaccinated. I agree with the CPL too much work. As well when we have lower ratios and meeting ministry and health requirements.

I am an RECE and a student of Dr. Stuart Shanker. My Self Reg training tells me that the CPL process is a huge pro social stressor that we do not need at all. Thanks for the deferral during the pandemic but it should be extended indefinitely. I understand the need for professional development. It’s a governance of most professions. Typically our employers offer opportunities to foster this. Our employers can vouch for our job performance and appropriate practice. If you aren’t professional at what you do, you won’t be employed. This should be proof enough. A stressed out ECE is of no value to the children in their care due to the sheer concept of limbic resonance. If the RECE is stressed out, so are the children.

I agree . The amount of paper work is crazy and with a job and family at home I don’t have the time to commit to completing it . I love my PD and willing keep up with it . But having to create a portfolio your style is crazy . It would be great for us to create our own in any way you like but keeping track of you PD .

The stress and work that goes into a CPL is completely unfair. We pay a massive fee to be recognized by a college but I’m still not seen as a valued educator with my school board. Like many of us, I have to constantly work to prove myself and my worth. Why is it that I have to do the same for a college who should already know my worth?

I already have a lot of work to do with my actual job. Taking more time away from my family is strenuous on it and mental health. OCTs do not have to do this therefore we shouldn't either.

CPL is a lot of extra work for a profession that is already over worked and under paid. I love what I do and continue to update my professional learning not sure why we should have to explain everything we do and why.

We don't get paid time to do cpls at my work and I know that's a pretty common thing for many centres.
These days I'm working longer hours, doing more work and feeling like I have very little personal time. Adding cpls to the mix takes away what little personal time I get and for what? I do my PDs. I do my doc for my children's progress as well as documenting what we are doing, showing that I am applying what I have learned into into practice. I refuse to use any of my extra time on anything work related at this point as I'm suffering extreme burn out while having to work because that is my only option.

I already am required to do PD hrs for my job and have feedback sheets attached. To me that should be enough proof that I am doing extra learning. We learn on the job everyday as well. Why should we have to prove it.

There needs to be more support for ECE'S, not more work added on. I had to resign just because I am on mat leave and not making enough money to pay for a membership that gives me nothing in return.

The cpl papers are way too much on top off all our other work and taking care of our own children. I know alot of ece that are changing professions because its getting to be to hard on them.
