I am willing to do regular webinars/research/training do the best job I can, but the time and effort for CPL is too much.. Refer to Bereavement Authority Ontario, formerly Board of Funeral Directors, as my husband completes his professional development and records it with the board WITHOUT the tedious paperwork.

If it was created property this wouldn't be such an issue for educators. They can do better for us!

We bring enough work home, stop adding more to our plate.

I am not against professional development and I believe we need to always be educating ourselves. I believe the expectations being put on us does not reflect in our pay or in recognition of the work we already do. I work the floor 81/2 hours a day. There is no planning ,prep or documentation time. The only time we may get it, is if ratios allow, do to children being away or if and I say if we get time while the children sleep. However now with covid every spare second is pretty much spent cleaning. I think proving to our supervisors what we have done for professional within that year when we have our end of the year performance reviews should be enough. If a member hasn't done any professional development or an adequate amount then the supervisor can report that to the college. People not actively working at the time but want to keep their registration could directly report to the college. We have this title of RECE but personally it's a label and still we are not recognized for the work we do.

I agree! We are apart of continuous professional learning as per company expectations. As an RECE it is my job to be current and keep myself knowledgeable. Shouldn’t have to prove it writing the same booklet every year. I attend workshops and reflect on them, on an on doing bases. We’re all exhausted with this pandemic!!

There has got to be an easier way. Our job is already stressful enough.

Kids, career life and have already put in years of school B.A, B.Ed plus attending workshops, seminars and extra Courses such as spec Ed . Why do I need to keep a portfolio with time consuming work to prove I’m staying current . I have professional judgement and will continue to stay current and up to date because I want to learn not bc I have to in order to keep my title . A title that I maintained years before having to pay for it .

On a daily basis I am continuously finding ways to better myself as an educator. I give each work day my all, which therefore means that at the end of the day I am exhausted and don't have time to update the websites I visited or resources I found.. I just want to relax. If I'm expected to continue to work on my CPL, I don't think I'll be able to continue to complete this and give my workplace my 125%.. we are all great educators and shouldn't have what feels like homework to do continuously.

Homework should not be required to keep my job. The demands of this CPL are ridiculous, and the fact that it needs to be done over and over again is worse.

Giving us homework and asking us to pay to do it it NOT professional respect. Why must we prove that we love our field and are continuing to learn and grow as a professional, but Teachers are not expected to do the same.

I believe in keeping up to date but I feel like the process is too lengthy considering a lot of us don’t have PD days in the field. From my perspective as a home child care provider I already work 10+ hour days in addition to many hours on the weekend preparing my classroom and curriculum for the next week. The CPL takes away at least a few weekends a year to complete. We also need to continue to keep up with her CPR and first aid. All of this takes a lot of time!

Getting a couple of trainings & providing certificates as proofs to the CECE is more than enough I believe. We are already paying $160/year as a membership fees which is ridiculously high. Stop CPL please, it’s an extra burden on us.

This has been the hardest year for most or ALL ECEs across Ontario. People have lost their jobs, gone on CERB or their job has significantly changed due to Covid. Completing our portfolio is the last thing on everyone’s mind and no one needs any extra stress added to their life.

Completing this CPL has caused stress and anxiety among staff. Most companies require professional development hours to be completed annually this should be sufficient.

Give us an online platform that we fill out, track on a profile. Offer us free webinars and ressources. That would be support. That would help us witb time constraints and all for professional development!! Where does all thet money go. We all pay fees yearly it is ridiculous.

Think the CPL is unfair, we have to pay $160/year for more work.....doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me

We pay an annual fee to keep our license and we practice our skills everyday at work. We’re already underpaid for the work we do and now we have to spend our free time working on our Cpl.

The completion of this portfolio takes me many full days of work each year. It is absolutely ridiculous that to keep my very low paying job, I must work additional days at no pay every year. It is unrealistic and bad for our profession. It is creating a divide between the college and the members.
