This causes me anxiety and stress when I work 8 hrs a day, with additional deep cleaning everyday. I don't have time to worry about this when I am trying to keep afloat in my classroom.

As a single mom trying to make ends meet and staying a float financially while keeping everybody happy is hard enough. I don't need or have time for writing tons of paper work essays. I keep up on professional development with being an RECE in the school board in a Jk/SK class and that should be good enough. I don't see other professions having to do so much extra work above and beyond the 9-5 of their job so why us? I hope you take this petition and comments seriously.

I agree, unfortunately with the extra demands of our already demanding job due to the pandemic, professional development seems a little unnecessary right now. Instead we need more support to help us get through this pandemic.

I’ve been in this field since 1986. My professional development is always on the forefront of my mind constantly. I love learning, but find the CPL process stressful beyond words. I value my profession. I value input to make me the best RECE possible. I don’t appreciate paying big bucks for an organization that promotes fear, and undo stresses outside the classroom.

With the member ship fees going up and not receiving membership card anymore and the constant CPL on our own time, family time and the lack of pay for the work we do,
A lot of good Educators are leaving the field
I am not happy we are forced to get a membership or our diploma would mean nothing. Yes after we already received our diploma and paid thousands to go to college to get to work in the field I was already in for 10 years.
But reality is you can have any job making just as much or more than what an RECE makes without all the extra unpaid work on CPL. I refuse to take my spare family time to do the CPL unpaid.
I enjoyed old school raising of the bar. I enjoyed going to workshops and having my Ascy card signed.
It was simple back then and enjoyable. I received a certificate every year.
They need to go back to old school way.!! And stop the money grab!!

I paid a lot of money to go to school and get my diploma to be able to use the ECE title, I don’t understand how we can be told we can’t use it, when we paid the money and worked hard to earn it? I do lots of professional development each year. This is something that all ECE’s should want to do if wanting to stay current in their profession. I would think that the majority of ECE’s could be trusted to do this on their own!

In this profession, we already work extremely hard on a daily basis in order to provide a safe, clean, loving and educational environment for our youngest learners. This field has always had a high burn out rate prior to the CPL being mandated. Adding an extra layer of work isn’t helping the profession. It’s causing great ECE’s to leave the field or lose their title. Please consider the work that is being done on a daily basis to ensure that the children in our care are our number one priorities and as ECE’s we know the importance of continuing to learn; we don’t need to write down, track and submit everything that we learn as we go. Learning happens every single day and our days are already long. By adding extra work, it’s causing our field to lose many teachers who would not have left if it weren’t for the extra workload. Thank you

I feel that the CPL is taxing, causing stress and burn out. I work 10.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. I need a mental health break from doing ECE things. I need to focus on my family and self-care. I am also taking university courses which is more prevalent in my life than CPL. side note: most of these webinars are during the day. I’m working. I cannot take time off to participate as I’m a home care provider. Thank you for understanding. I do have some ideas though. There should be webinars that we can join in from on the COECE website, for every season. That should be considered professional development/learning because the college puts it on.

I have been in the ECE field for over 25 years and I am good at what I do. This is just all a money grab, paying the fee and having to do the CPL on our own time. I would rather be spending time with my family.
