I agree, it’s a waste of time and waste of money. I don’t understand why i have to do this extra homework when I have been in the field over twenty years. I don’t see where the one hundred and sixty dollars is going towards. The college keeps taking our money and I don’t see how it benefits any of us ECE teachers.

With High rates and lack of respect for our field (Not recognized by or own government) it's sad to see people leaving the field because of the extra stress and zero support from the college.

I fully agree that there should be an easier way for us to prove that we are continuing our professional learning. The CPL is a lot of extra work.

Continuing Education should be up to the individual and having it as an expectation just makes it one more thing to do and you will not get the same engagement out if it when its forced.

All educators are happy to be involved in professional development and most will do so regardless of CPL! As a new RECE I was shocked that the college does not send us anything about the requirements, a print out of the portfolios they require us to have done! A few friends I went to college with had no idea about all these extras requirements! They are finding out from RECE’s who have Facebook pages to help other RECEs (they do this out of the goodness of their hearts and with no pay attached!) CPL is causing a lot of unnecessary stress for educators! I know many educators who have to take two weeks off work to try and get this done! It’s not right nor is it fair! The college does little to nothing to help us complete the requirements or keep us on track, many are falling behind because the expectations are unreasonable and eventually just leave the field all together so that they don’t have this extra burden of stress! This whole CPL process needs to be reevaluated!!!!

This is a job that requires a great deal of care and love but T the expense of the people doing the work . Especially durning this pandemic.
Pay them appropriately not to mention the cost of living that is so high here in Canada

The CPL is extremely stressful and I feel the fees are ridiculous 1. Because we are the only province in Canada that has to pay to be an ECE and 2. We are paying for something that would even have our backs if we were to have an issue!

This is one of a few reasons I left the field and added to my burn out. I loved my career and it brought me joy but when all of these 'hoops' I had to jump through to prove the value of my profession added stress and fatigue and lead to my burn out. Melissa Mansingh former RECE

Most of us have college diplomas in the field which allowed for us to be working as professionals in the field. The membership fee, CPL and audit is a money making operation without regard to us. My job should be to pay for my membership fee and be on my way. My PD /goals should be at my discretion as an adult and not regulated as it's a private journal unique to each professional. Thanks
