Fees do not provide you with anything. Where does the money go?

Nobody is saying PD isn’t worthwhile. What we are saying is that the hardships having to do with maintaining a registered college certificate gravely outweigh the benefits!

I believe in professional development but there is plenty training opportunities that we would benefit from rather than consuming our time with unnecessary documentation. Our profession is very demanding and requires more than sufficient documentation in the workplace. We are exhausted by the time we get home to our love ones and then thinking about the demands of the college and stress to complete yet more paperwork. The college needs to revisit the CPL program and consider a less stressful means of professional development. One suggestion would be providing mandatory professional development opportunities that do not require long hours of documentation.

Too much extra documentation, that is not necessary.

Thus is such a stressful time for us all. Once things get back to some sort of normal then we can continue wth the cpl. Right now we as educators need to be doing more advocacy for our profession. The government needs to hear our voices and address our concerns around safety, paid sick days, better pay in general . If we as educators are needed for families to go back out to work and get the economy going again then we need to be treated with respect. We should not be a afterthought.

There is no time to work on or complete our CPL with our busy work schedules shorter lunches and personal lives especially in a stressful time like this there is no way. Even when there was no Covid there was still not enough time in the day to work on my CPL . It seems like everyone is doing it differently it is not as clear as we think for me it’s a very confusing thing. It needs to go we don’t get paid enough as ECE’s we need to be seen and Heard

I find it very hard to find the time to sit down and complete my CPL. When I do get that time, I want to spend it with my family or relax after a busy work week.

I have been a member for almost 20 years and I pay my annual dues to receive zero support from the College of Early Childhood Educators. The college is nothing but a money grab and the CPL is repetitive and a waste of time. What positives have come from the college to support the educators in this province? Nothing...we are threatened with audits and you continue to hike the dues when we are making the bare minimum. I hate giving you my money as I feel you are truly a useless factor in the ECE world and clearly from the comments I've read...I am not alone in this! You want our money, but show no signs of support...CECE is a joke!

I understand paying the annual fee, however..for those working minimum wage, not getting enough hours, or on leave.. it does make it difficult. Regarding CPL.. it does not make sense to me. We went to college/university and have our diploma/degrees.. but still have to prove we are competent by completing CPL? I believe in professional development, don’t get me wrong.. everyone should continuously be learning..but the added headache and stress of completing CPL is unnecessary.. OCTs don’t even have to do something like this.. they just do professional development and don’t need to be audited.. it’s insulting that after completing our schooling that we worked so hard on that we still have to prove ourselves, when other regulatory bodies in Canada don’t do this to their members. My conclusion, keep the annual fee where it is.. there is no need to raise it..and provide RECEs with Professional Development opportunities and workshops. There is no need for having us do extra work, for which we are already paid so little to do. CPL/audit is added stress, more time taken away from work and family, and makes us feel incompetent.

Professional development is important and I’m all for keeping professionals accountable in staying informed on current practices but the current CPL model is confusing and stressful.

It is ridiculous that we have to do all of this extra work, teachers don't have to do it.. they are with the kids less, get planning time to go to the lcbo or chat, have less duty, and paid way more. What gives?
