We need to stop export of elvers as all that happens is they are grown on and we import them back. Once again a traditional way of life is being lost

Please stop this insane and continued destruction of our dwindling natural ecosystem resources for selfish "this generation is the only one that matters" short term commercial gains. Lets upskill our workforce and economy rather than plunder this resource probably for a small number of very low paid jobs and a few people at the top who couldn't care less making the big bucks.

This is such an obvious conservation step. Why has this restriction not been in place before. The current situation means that a species is endangered because it is possible to catch the elvers at a very short period of time when they are at their most vulnerable. Endangering a species for the enrichment of a handfull of greedy peiople should stop immediately.the elevers

I'm continually stunned that the government bodies treat commercial fishermen like farmers. Farmers have to replant & maintain seed & stock to create a comercial product. Commercial fishermen, just rape the sea of wild creatures & the government generally fails to control their practices until a particular species is on the brink of extinction. They need to get proactive & allow no more than X% of the annual replenishment rate of any species to be commercially harvested ! It's not rocket science ! :( :(
