Im a Fashion Design student this will make our already stressful and sleep deprived existence even more complicated. This makes no sense, if you want to market and change the image of the schools teach your administration so they are actually knowledgable and also teach them customer service as we are paying customers. Keep your students happy and they will pass the word easily its a good school but for now everything is dated, the curriculum, the teachers teaching style which many dont have expertise in what they teach as well as the attitude of staff. There isnt enough space and resources. I think we should improve internally.

Bookstores geared to students are amazing and warm and welcoming! Once you have to go to a large box store you loose the personal.

So this is why they raised our tuition? I'm sick and tired of having irons that leak scalding water on us, never enough table space or dressforms, and poor administration at this school. It seams every year the FD students are falling by the wayside in order to make FIT more like a typical college. The absence of this bookstore would certainly impact the FD students and teachers the most, the program that made FIT, it's literally in the name. So why then am I constantly having classrooms taken away and renovated for other majors, teachers that have had multiple complaints, dangerous work areas, etc? This is ridiculous that FIT could even consider something as frivolous as a "welcome center", when you see the conditions I've seen. Part of me thinks this is also a way for students to spend money at the FIT sanctioned bookstore in our basebent that carries very limited and overpriced supplies. Either way, FIT continues to do more things like this that are at the disadvantage of the FD students, and I am so happy graduation is on the horizon for me but I pity the future FD students who will have no adequate supplies or bookstore near them, old classrooms, broken machinery, never enough workspace, but will see shiny new classrooms and administrative offices sprouting up all around them.

This store was a lifesaver for me when I was a Fashion Design student at FIT. Now, even years after graduating, I still rely on it for nearly all of my supplies.

Keep the bookstore open!! It's the one thing teachers and students rely on. Many of my professors can easily ask the store to order us x number of supplies and they will have it. It does not make sense to make a welcome center. Instead put the money towards bigger classrooms for the large class sizes for fashion design. We pay so much to go to FIT yet, we have half decent equipment and not enough table space to efficiently utilize classtime. I've seen such beautiful classrooms for some majors I think Fashion design classrooms & our equipment need TLC. For example the Knitwear students deserve a larger knitting labs with newer machinery.

This Store is important to our community at FIT. As a 3 time representative of student government and advocate for student needs. FIT has plan to make FIT better with the expansion of the new building on 27 coming i dont see the reason for a welcome center. Especially where Art Students get alot of there supplies. I can say from being a former work the store serves the FIT student body and i say to all student rally behind things that benefit us because FIT will always look out not for you but for what they feel is best. I am firm believer that it should be the students first. I hope this doesnt happen.

Design students love and rely on this bookstore for almost all of our supplies... And the Barnes and Noble is grossly overpriced, unhelpful, and understocked. If FIT really cares about providing for students they will find a way to keep this valuable resource around.

I've been coming here for years even before I started at FIT. Its a great resource for every student at FIT and it would honestly be terrible if this was taking away from us. The staff is so helpful and knows what they are talking about.
