I am the mother of a 14 year old daughter. I do not know what her future will hold, but I want her to have choices. These services are important for our community.

My child was placed in numerous positions in the community while in BOCES when she was still in school. Her best placement was at our local sheltered workshop. If it closeswhere will she go? What will we do?

Stop closing of sheltered work environments in NY State. Currently, there are 8,000+ who currently live and work in sheltered work settings.

It always boggles my mind when people make decisions for our children and they have no clue who they really are and what they can or can not do..

Shuting djown sheltered workshops would be devastating to many individuals who currently and in the future find fulfillment, productivity and happiness in this environmnet. Not all people can work in the the general population. It would be a huge mistake to deprive many people fo this opportunity to work in this environment. There isn't one path that can be laid out the very diverse population of individuals with developmental disabilities.
