If these work places close many of the special needs people who use and enjoy them will have no place to feel needed. How about we take away some of the governmental benefits to save these workshops.

Wihout the workshops, what will these people do? We'll just be warehousing people again. I say NO to that. Everyone needs a purpose.

The sheltered workshop environment provides individuals with intellectual and other disabilities with invaluable opportunities to gain work experience, serve as contributing members of society as well as the dignity of earning their own paycheck. Work provides individuals with a sense of being needed, opportunities to face and conquer challenges and meet new people. Individuals who are willing to come to work, work hard and take pride in the work that they do deserve that opportunity regardless of any disabilities they may have.

I have family and friends who have and do benefit from Sheltered Workshop activities. They should not be denied this choice.

Don't these people have enough problems NYS should be giving money to people who struggle everyday to make a living instead of giving money away to those that don't. What is happening to this country? Time to go to the polls.

There needs to be a continuum of services provided for individuals with disabilities in NYS. Competitive Employment is not for everyone. For some, Sheltered Workshops is the least restrictive environment. My brother has been an employee at Allentown Industries in Buffalo, NY for 25+ years and would be lost without this setting.

To those who think shutting down facilities such as this is the key to saving dollars YOU are a fortunate individual who is capable of handling employment using your healthy body parts. For individuals such as the ones you choose to overlook as an important self-producing laborer please see the strong mental and physical need in keeping programs such as these existent. Just because a person has a disability does not mean they cann

The workshop environments in New York state provide a valuable training and service, not only for individuals with disabilities, but for the businesses they serve. Individuals are receiving needed training in preparation to work in community settings when they become skilled enough to do so. In the meantime, these people are being productive and providing needed services for many, many area businesses. If the workshops are closed, these same individuals, who are not yet ready for employment in their communities will not have jobs (well skilled individuals cannot find jobs in the current job market) and they will likely not retain the current level of skills they have been working so hard to attain. Further, many of these individuals live in homes with families and care providers who work full time jobs to make ends meet and will not be at home to provide needed oversight for individuals with special needs. This will place a hardship on the families and care providers as well as jeopardize the overall health and well being of individuals with disabilities. The sad truth is that many of these individuals will languish at home, without stimulating interation with others in environments where they are currently learning, thriving and working toward increased success in their communities. These individuals could be nad may be yours and our brothers, sisters, cousins and friends. Let's provide them with opportunities to learn, grow and succeed. Please keep the sheltered work environments OPEN. Thank you.

I know myself having dual disability of vision and hearing loss it's hard to find an employer to give me a job. I am grateful that one company which is Middletown Medical look pass my disabilities and hire me but the employees at the workshop wouldn't have a chance out in the world. let's show our support for them. let's stand together and fight to keep the workshop open.

Stop the closure of workshops. You don't know how many people you will be hurting.

Closing sheltered work centers without first providing fully funded supported employment programs for all effected individuals will have profound and severe negative impacts on thousands of people with disabilities and their families.
