Please do not close the workshops. My daughter loves going to workshop every day, making a paycheck, socializing with her friends and feeling important and valued.

I am proud to say that I work at a sheltered workshop. The individuals that I work with are proud that they work at a sheltered workshop. In Delaware county there are very limited opportunities for them to find "outside work". They are extremely proud of what they do and the paychecks they earn! Please help and sign this petition to help stop taking work away from them!

it is a shame that they would even consider closing this workshop.

my daughter looks forward to going to "work" each day. On Friday when she is paid she is so proud of her check. This can't be taken away.

My son who has been diagnosed with autism, has been employed by ARC "Achieve" in the Binghamton/Johnson City area for 34 years. Because of his disability, he has always been a quiet gentleman, with limited abilities in the workshop arena, but he is extremely happy with his ability to "make a living" and with his supportive environment. I humbly encourage you to continue to support this valuable program, for it is indeed so important not for my son, but for the many others who would be "lost" without it.

Presently our states general population is having a difficult time finding local employment, I fail to see how adding a developmentally disabled population to that pool is a good idea. Before our Albany leaders try to sell this idea as being supportiove of our most vulnerable population, they should visit various workshops. Afterwords, common sense, should halt this workplace inclusion approach. If not, my suspicion is that money, not need, is the driving force. When finance is involved, governments always drink from the services trough (Fire, Police, Public Works, etc.). Now the developmentally Disabled has been added to the list.
