Decisions like this should not be made without understanding the consequences. This isn't a subject where a "one size fits all" approach will work. People depend on these programs for a variety of reasons.

Do not close sheltered workshops! These programs are essential to our communities. By continueing sheltered work we create jobs to end poverty AND we provide a place to work for those who cannot. Please take a moment to think. What if this were your child? Your responsibility? What if you were luck enough to be blessed with a special needs child, how would you feel if the thing your child has worked 21 years for has ended. Please keep sheltered workshops open.

Do not close sheltered workshops! These programs are essential to our communities. By continueing sheltered work we create jobs to end poverty AND we provide a place to work for those who cannot. Please take a moment to think. What if this were your child? Your responsibility? What if you were luck enough to be blessed with a special needs child, how would you feel if the thing your child has worked 21 years for has ended. Please keep sheltered workshops open.

I serve on the ACHIEVE Foundation Board of Directors and the company that I work for, New York State Elecrtric & Gas Corp, (NYSEG) has employed individuals from the CVI Employment Center and Sheltered Workshop for more than 20 years. It is important that these centers remain open.

This is a high priority. Closure of sheltered workshops will put a heavy burden on society, as families struggle to care for their loved ones, without the resources to do so. Individuals without families will join the ranks of the homeless, and public safety will be greatly compromised. Many businesses that rely on sheltered workshops will suffer further economic loss, and job availability will further decline. Please consider these issues carefully, and stop the closure of sheltered workshops, which are so critcal to our communit.

Please put yourself in their shoes.... they WANT to work, and they are! There are so many people who CAN work but they choose not to. They deserve kudo's for giving their best to make a positive contribution to their community! Keep it open!! They are an amazing role to all of us! Heck, even the government stopped working this year!!! Lets keep these environments up and running!
