I know many adults with disabilities who are proud to say they have a job at these workshops. They enjoy having their own money earned through hard work. Don't take these opportunities away from these adults.

Closing these facilities would leave so many people who have disabilities out in the cold . These places need to stay open to help them learn skills that can put them into the work force and help the communities grow .

NYS, don't pick on our most helpless citizens. These folks live for their jobs and the soccialization that it brings. It gives them self-respect because they are a useful part of society.

Keep all employment options available for those who have very few options to choose from. Eliminating a viable, productive option makes no sense. Let people vote with their feet. If Sheltered Workshops are as bad as their detractors say they are, they will close due to a lack of participants. We should be looking at ways to improve Sheltered Workshops not close them.

I understand that intergration is a goal but why does it have to take away an opprotunitiy for employment that has supports needed. These individuals will end up with minimal programing and no pay check at all. The workshops provide a variety of WORK FOR PAY some may be able to move into supported but most will not that was the whole purpose for the programs to me it is a huge step back

Really, If you dont have a person that is a slow worker and have a hard time keep a job . This is why we have the Shelter Work Shop for the individual needs exter hand to earn a wage like you and me. So ya please make sure we have a place for the people that needs a helping hand in life.
